Studio 397 and Motorsport Games have a free update for Le Mans Ultimate up their sleeves ahead of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Now, they have given more details on what to expect.

From a new hypercar to in-game replay modes and a radar tool - the Le Mans Ultimate update set for June 10 is shaping up to be quite spectacular.

Le Mans Ultimate New Content

The major headline of the new update are the arrival of the BMW M Hybrid V8 Hypercar - and the full roster of 2024 Hypercar liveries to accompany it. The lack of these 2024 liveries has been a community bugbear since LMU released and, finally, in the month of Le Mans, they can look forward to the 2024 chariots. The addition of the BMW as free content is a nice touch, too.

Following the arrival of the 2024 liveries for existing Hypercars, the first of the 2024 paid DLC packs is expected to launch next month. The pack will include Imola (Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari and further content to be announced closer to the pack's release date.

The 2024 content will be split across four individual packs, including the July drop. These will all be bundled together to create the 2024 Season Pass. In total, it will include a further four Hypercars, four new circuits and seven GT3 cars.

Two free GT3 cars will find their way into all early-access players' accounts towards the end of this calendar year as well, completing the GT grid. Once these packs are released, all the current cars across all the classes in the WEC will be present and correct in LMU - although cars like the Peugeot 9X8 would also need an overhaul to reflect the off-season changes to the cars during the off-season.

In-Game Updates

Alongside the new BMW Hypercar and the 2024 liveries is the much-called-for revision of race starts and the addition of an optional Radar. These updates are quality-of-life changes predominantly, but these two changes will likely make monumental differences to how players, new and experienced, will be able to enjoy LMU going forward.

Used to help improve awareness whilst racing – the radar enables you to see where opponents are when running wheel-to-wheel, helping situational and spatial awareness in the heat of the moment. This tool will be available in both online and offline modes.

The revised race starts will balance the penalty system in a much more accurate way. Communication with players will also be improved in the pre-race phase to make sure everyone knows exactly what the protocol is to try and have a clean race start, especially on formation laps.

A feature that many expected from the start also makes its way into the update: a proper in-game replay mode. Looking back at your race will now be possible with in-game Replays, enabling you to rewind your past online and offline wins and losses. Driver Labels that can be toggled on and off have also been added in conjunction with the in-game replay mode.

Those of you lucky enough to be at Le Mans this year will be able to test and experience these cars for free at the LMU booth from the 11th of June. Multiple special events will also be held throughout the Le Mans event.

What about charging subscription for racecontrol? I would like some clarity on that. Im not going to pay for DLC if its not clear how/if the online part gets monetized, my fear is they try to charge for online and even if i pay then noone else will and it will be tumbleweed online.

I really don't understand people who complain. But do we realize that it is the FIRST complete WEC officially licensed game to date? It's natural that it will take time to implement everything, I saw the guys' video and honestly they seem enthusiastic about the players' support and many of the problems will already be solved shortly including the long-awaited radar.
If you don't like the game or you complain about paid content that I have to tell you, then subscribe to iRacing (yeah that's also a subscription like LMU, but in that case it's all ok right?). I'm super happy with the game and having a lot of fun, and will continue to support them!

I don't mean to be negative, I want a complete WEC game! What do you predict will be the complete cost for the complete game?

"the Le Mans Ultimate update set for June 10 is shaping up to be quite spectacular"
I had to read the news twice, as I thought I had missed something, but no, not missed anything. I must have a different understanding of what is spectacular.
Then the tile: "Free June Update", LMU is and was bought as Early Access, why would this update not be free? Why is it not just the June update? Early Access by definition will be updated.
Nice to see some improvements to this Early Access offering coming in June, expected, but nice, nonetheless.
Hopefully, this is just the beginning of improvements as the present state is pretty dire.
Much potential, but beside the usual die-hards, will the intended market be patient enough? Somehow, I have serious doubts.

Ya, a bit underwhelmed here. Much less concerned about a free car than things that affect the whole game. Sure, replay is definitely nice to have. How about Track IR (which has got to be about the easiest thing to implement- looking at all the games which have done so), VR, save game, controller profiles, AI control? Radar ... I mean okay, but many of us already use Simhub or something similar and never did without a radar. Why not focus on the things which don't have workarounds.

I know I sound ungrateful, but I have zero interest in online net code, so this feels like an update which brings very little improvement for my particular interest in LMU.

S397 is starting to feel a little like Eagle Dynamics with respect to what they choose to work on.

They're complaining because of who makes it, simple as that they have vendettas against certain companies as does this forum who regularly will post about the financial goings on of this company yet don't go digging into any other.

I disagree. It's just dissapointing that I cannot run this game with a full grid without stutters and framerate lag, although being above the required specs. Not addressing the basic quality of the gameplay yet bringing new content just doesn/t seem the right way to go from my perspective.

That, i have a 13900K with a 4090 and i run my games at 7680x2160 , the UI and the game itself is poorly optimized, rF2 for example runs way better .. ( when it doesnt crash )

I haven't done a race yet, but I had all three classes at Le Mans in practice and fps were smooth and steady. There is quite a lot more going on than your average rF2 session(and rF2 is usually more resource demanding than most sims already) So expecting the same performance out of the two sims is probably going to lead to disappointment.

I don't know... I'm glad to get a full 2024 WEC season grid, a free BMW hypercar and two free GT3 cars. That's a big plus. However, announcing DLCs when the game is still in early access is a little premature. And this is a MSG title, so I don't want these DLCs to be as expensive as the overpriced rFactor 2 DLCs.

What about new game modes (free practice and season)?

So there's some positive here, but also some questions to be answered.

They more than likely have no choice FIA contracts are pretty strict on games with time frames for releases of content etc.

Driver swaps ???? wtf a ****ing Radar ???? seriously thats a big QOL improvment ?
You might be suprised but the radar is the most requested feature in the wishlist section. Next to 2024 DLC wich will come - surprise, suprise - and VR, wich have been the hot topics on discord. So what are you raging about? That they fullfill user requests? That a feature that is present in the two most played sim racing titles get's requested by people who come from those titles and that they follow those requests? What's the purpose of the request section then?

And don't get me wrong, I hate the radar with passion but I have come to the conclusion that the world isn't spinning around me. ;)

What's premature about announcing something that was announced before release? Who came up with the idea that there wouldn't be DLCs? And if you have watched the video carefully you might have noticed that you don't need to own all DLC cars to race gainst them. It's actually very simple: if you think that the game is good enough for you you buy the DLC, if not you simply wait. Nobody is forcing anyone. And people who like a bit more variation get more stuff to play with. Easy as it get's. And what does it matter if the content is released now or later. Should they wait and sit on it? They can release the stuff and test it as soon as possible.

It really really funny the peeps say this is just a port.

The way AI react in race, pits is absolutely entirely different to rF2

I still testing but not happy with no AI control as you need that to do proper tests.

Anyhows last weeks I have cycled through 3 seasons full distance full grids and barely had a issue.
Am yet to have stutter, lag or a crash.
Right atm 18 hours into Lemans, could not ask for better.
I also set 2x fuel to make more pit issues possible.
I love my GTR2 but these people swoon on it as the best most complete endurance have no clue
what they are on about without driving this.
lol I walk to make cuppa and see racing, swap cams or something make cuppa and
have to sit down amd watch for 10 miniute cause it so immersive looking.
Some of the passing I have seen in last months is the best any sim ever by a big margin.

Even DNF attrition rate is as real as you could ask for.

How would you define a "complete WEC game"?
2025 there will be different liveries and perhaps new manufacturers and almost certainly new versions of the 2024 cars.

25 years ago I was using Windows NT 3.51.
Today I'm still using Windows 10 and before that Windows 8
Volkswagen are currently on the eighth generation of the Golf.
If you wait for something to be complete you'll never buy it.
