Automobilista 2: Upcoming Content Previewed, Collaboration With Multiplayer Platforms

Automobilista 2 v1.6 is still in the works, but should release this summer. Developer Reiza Studios now showed some of the content to come.

The summer of 2024 could shape up to be a memorable one for Automobilista 2: The sim by Brazilian developer Reiza Studios is due for its big v1.6 update, which focus on another big step ahead in the tire model. As outlined in the first part of the corresponding dev update, there is more to come, however, such as more IMSA content and shader updates to make AMS2 look better.

For the latter, Reiza has now shown previews, all but confirming at least three new pieces of content to be included in the update. For one, the Corvette Z06 GT3.R seen in this article's header image looks set to make its debut in AMS2 once version 1.6 launches. The car has only recently hit the virtual track in iRacing as well. Meanwhile, the blue-and-yellow kerbs in the screenshot hint at one of the upcoming tracks.

Automobilista 2 v1.6: Road Atlanta, New Prototypes

Only four IMSA circuits from the 2024 calendar are missing in Automobilista 2, those being Detroit, Mosport, Sebring - and Road Atlanta, which is most likely what the Corvette screenshot shows, especially considering that another image clearly shows the Petit Le Mans venue's turn 7. Of course, this is not a surprise, as the track was already featured in screenshots accompanying the v1.6 part 1 dev update.

However, keen-eyed observers will notice that the cars in the shot are not in AMS2 yet, either. Unlike in WEC, where the class has been relegated to Le Mans only status, LMP2 machines still compete in most IMSA Sportscar Championship rounds. The Oreca 07 shown is used by the majority of the LMP2 grid, with just a single Ligier JS P217 on the grid in 2024.

Further shots show the improved shaders in wet or drying conditions. Reiza underscored that despite the improved look, the changes will have a "negligible impact on performance so all users can enjoy the improvements."

Collaboration With Multiplayer Platforms

Meanwhile, the multiplayer section of AMS2 looks set to start improving significantly. Reiza announced collaborations with multiplayer platforms Low Fuel Motorsport, JustRace and Racecraft Online to help the sim run well on their services.

Reiza wants to ensure that the platforms can run AMS2 as well as possible, while on the other hand, the collaboration "will also assist us with valuable data and feedback to further develop the Multiplayer component in AMS2."

Following part 1 released about a month ago, part 2 of the v1.6 dev update should not be far off anymore. It is set to cover AI improvements, as well as "some Multiplayer wins already in the bag", according to Reiza Founder and Lead Developer Renato Simioni.

AMS2 is a never ending construction site. All these announcements killed the expectations of a complete "sim".

It was released years ago an still they "revolutionize" the physics, as "they now finally found something new in the engine".

For me, this makes me feel like playing a broken game while waiting on the announced and always postponed updates.

I regret buying this game. Reiza is like a monetarized Project Cars 2 Modding community.

In my opinion better a sim where devs try to improve it even more instead to have an "finished" game.

Ive tried now Iracing for 3 months and its a big disappoinment (for me).
Desyncs, tons of rammers, no possibility to play with an friend due to the rankingsystem (correct me if i missed something).
This points are no go for me to pay every month for it.
Before you say something...
i7-13700k, DDR5 64GB, RTX4090, VR HP Reverb G2 v2.... inet glas fibre Down 530 Mbps/ 110 Up Mbps

LMS is lame attm.
ACC is in some terms good but VR is not so optimal, boring content.

Thats why i prefer AMS2.
As for me best looking sim with best VR performance/FFB.
Sure, public servers are also a playground for rammers but i drive only for fun.
When i want to go more serious so i use Racecraft.
Multiplayer area in AMS2 was always a shame point but it looks like they want to get their hands on it finally.

AC wouldnt have today "a good status" without community.
To be fair, the standard content is fine but the mod "extension" allowed the game to grow and to gain nwadays legend status.
AC left the EA, got some DLCs and that was all so there were any "boring" annoucements anymore after that.

I prefer Assetto Corsa where the product is finished and the community mods the hell out of it (without boring teasing announcements)

Because AC was a complete finished game from the start upon release? With no updates and new content? Got it.

Funny as I've never came across any sim title that released as a 'finished product' (since we've had internet patches)

So you'd prefer it if they just downed tools? All the sims update their tyre models. iRacing has done it at least 7-8 times and its still not perfect by a long shot. ACC did it last year, with a fairly major revision that dramatically changed the driving feel of the game. Raceroom did it last year with a major revision. Kunos left AC in the dust and its only thanks to modders its in good shape now, otherwise it would have been long forgotten. Your stance is baffling to me. Give me a dev like Reiza every time where they work hard to improve what is already there.

So, by your standards, AC are broken hence the mods are needed to fix it...

Got it :laugh::laugh::laugh:
Explain to me what is the difference between AC that is continuously updated by modders and AMS2 that is continuously updated by those who produced it?
They are two ways of carrying on and improving games (luckily) compared to others that are abandoned without being complete.

Mods:
Nobody has the same version and need to work out what mods they have and need.

Devs: Everybody get the same thing

kill the message not the messenger.

Moreover, depending on car selected , ac could feel more natural than some ams2 one. For ex. the ams2 slippy porsche gt3 also known as "the Slider"

he has some thruth in his words, " never ending construction site" thats is sadly right. Reiza is so slow and sometimes erratic.

At the beginnings some years ago, They said that multiplayer was not a priority, lol. Now they are building it? haha. At the time they will end it the world wont have petrol cars.

We are lucky that LFM will add it cuz i dont expect Reiza to have a ranked multiplayer, that would be the ideal situation.

Reiza does some things right but multiplayer scene is not their speciality, just look their numbers games.

You mean one of the things this patch aims to fix with the new tire model that is already in 1.5.6 to test out on 2 cars?...

Also, how many GT3 cars have you raced in in real life?

cant wait to see this 1.6 update, sounds like the team are delving deeper and deeper into the physics engine and moulding it to their liking, awesome work to the small team at Reiza!

Cant believe some of the comments above slating a development company for continually improving their product, strange to not encourage and show gratitude imo.

I have a load of fun in AMS2, its a great sim to play and relax to, it may well be easier to drive than some, but on the flipside its usually more fun, which is one of the reasons i drive it all the time :)

You realise Reiza is a small team? You say they are slow, but if you are in the beta you know how hard they work and the crazy amount they are putting into 1.6. We get updates over weekends and the forum is active and has devs responding at all hours.
They are not "building" multiplayer. They don't have the resources for ranked multiplayer IMO. They are doing what they said they would at the start of the year and making MP more robust ( and especially, the dedicated server )so that the community driven MP sites like LFM, RCO and JustRace can thrive. That's a good option for them IMO. I would say they still don't view MP as a priority, but because so many asked for it, they are putting the effort in anyway as best they can. There are at least 4 MP tests a week with dedicated members of their team.

Also, if you want to see "slow" check out the patch updates from Rennsport and then compare them to Reiza's efforts:)

About time they backflipped on the idea of MP in this title...

For years I was told to "Wait until AMS3"...

Name one sim which has not received consecutive updates over quite a long period of time. Yes, there is none. Every goddamn sim we're playing received or receives regular updates for all kind of stuff (often physics, graphics, features etc). I think that's normal because nobody today is capable of releasing a sim in perfect condition, every dev adds things later (because of time, money, new employees=bigger team, licenses...) In the case of AC those major updates came through modders. If AC wasn't moddable, this title would probably already be dead. And I say this as a big fan of AC.

Some people can think no further than the next corner. Where's the facepalm emoji when you need it?

By the way.... regarding multiplayer: there was never any talk of Reiza not doing anything about MP, it just wasn't their priority. Big difference.
