Pulling such a gap in these tricky conditions made him shine even more.

The only reason Norris was at pole was because of his own luck in Q2.
If Verstappen would have finished Q2, he would be at the front row.
Even Checo would have been sitting somewhere near the front.

Still if Norris was told he would be battling with Verstappen a year ago he would have signed for it.
They came a long way at McLaren, fully deserve the WC for teams.

Ok, a bit of a dumb and dumber moment by Norris, and a mistake for sure, but no advantage was gained, and nobody's safety was put at risk. Also there is significant precedence of two or more formation laps in wet weather conditions. In essence a bit of balls up but ultimately no harm done.

Also to penalise Norris would mean to penalise the half of the grid which followed him therefore leading the race director to make the pragmatic decison for an additional formation lap, hence the minimal fine.

What if another Bianchi situation happens? Even this same weekend, Albon crashed in turn T1, possibly because of some failure. Colapinto crashed under SC. Any of those situations could've happened while Stroll is doing whatever the F he was doing there. Norris being dumbass is not an excuse.
Race control & stewards were a joke during this whole weekend with inconsistency.

Some drivers stayed on their position (hey Max), as they seen the lights and those where telling them don't drive.
It's in the rulebook, that same one that said if you can get ahead of the apex, the corner is yours and the other car should back off.

The lights are red, but you decide to drive.
But now the whole field had to drive another lap.
Making the race one lap shorter.
That's quite a major breach of the rules.
5000 and pointy finger is a very mild ruling.

Yes, good point about no DRS. It is a safety thing of course in wet conditions but it really is not needed anyway in a wet race.
Not so sure it was a great 'race' but certainly a magnificent display of an alien driver at work.
Regarding Lando, I really like the guy and I hope that with some 'battle scars' hopefully he can become as good a racer as Leclerc, Alonso and Russell. He will need to improve his craft a little bit and not depend on team direction so much because we have some exciting young drivers capable of race wins in the right cars. F1 is so close nowadays that good drivers are now able to show how good they are and not just in the background as was the case in the 8 years of Mercedes dominance.

Rain is the great equalizer, so i think we witnessed yesterday that Lando isn’t that special. I also like Lando but i don’t see a future champion in him, this season he has a chance and it must be done when not it won’t come ever I’m afraid.

Lando will have to hit back next race! Then we know how strong he is mentally. But from your list marcg88, only Alonso has really competed for championships. But for sure Leclerc and Russel are very good drivers!

Agreed Lando must hit back and I would like to see it of course but it isn't really a case of hitting back, it's a case of maximising each race and see what happens. All Max has to do, if he can contain himself, is think Championship. He is a very clever driver so 'thinking Championship' for him is not taking his time, it's avoiding potential gotchas.

I can't argue with you on that point, and I'm sure yours is not the only iggy list that I'm on. I'd have probably put myself on my iggy list if it was indeed possible.

I still think today Damon would kick himself more then Michael for making that move at Adelaide and not having a good think about it first. Not like he never had the time. That was the mistake

You're not a racer if you don't go for the gap, I am Senna fan but this is pure mental games on his part playing with other drivers, he had them, believe if you put it beside me you are fair game.

I like them both until that day at Monaco when I lost all respect for the five of them.

That to me is the biggest thing, you don't go telling tales out of school.

Something I love about Max, he called that qualifying fiasco " bad luck " and he did it with a smile and a nod.

He never dwells on things like those 5 did for how many years till they had the perfect platform to rant and rave like maniacs frothing at the mouth is the best description I can think of. . ( facepalm )

Too true. In an era of clean shaven wissy wossies his mustache defined him as the absolute apex predator of motorsports - even Ayton decided it was better to be his friend rather than his enemy.

It's therefore no surprise that the design of modern racing wheels has taken significant influence from the shape of his hairy accoutrement.
