AC X-Bow, Lotus 2 Eleven @ Vallelunga - Wed 30th July 2014

Assetto Corsa Racing Club event
Sorry Frank and Akis. I managed to take the gap that Frank created but he closed the door and i was stuck in Akis's way. Otherwise, very good fun and good race. If not my two mistakes, I would fight for the podium.

Good race. Wish I could be more competitive with all of you, but it takes time to learn a car. At least I have the replay to go back and watch how the rest of you drive, and hopefully that will help me out a bit :)

Sorry to @Mathias André for sending you over to the stratosphere, but that's what happened from my point of view:

lag..?

Although we both had low pings, that was some bad teleporting there. Are you using a wifi connection?

He was in front of me for a bit early in the race and the same exact thing was happening. Later on in the race, he was in front of me again, but there was no warping at all. Weird.

In my reply, he looks fine and is Akis the one jumping all over the place...

During qualy my ping (usually at 20ms) went up to 3000, so I ended rebooting and had no further problem. However, during the race, I saw some car jumping around from time to time as well, but only a couple of times.

It can be anything: steam auto-update, windows deciding that it is time to download some updates for internet explorer, the TV downloading some weird stuff, a bug in the netcode from AC, your ISP provider throttling you by accident, the server struggling with the bandwidth for uploading, or your flatmate watching some 3D porn in HD...

Race was fun! I was stalking Frank for a while and when I had an opportunity to pass him in the slow hairpin I chickened out. I kept pushing and I ended in the grass a couple of laps later. I did too many mistakes tonight so I ended a bit disappointed as I finished worse than I started the race :(

Wow. I went back to look at the replay just to see what @Guus Verver and @Christoph Wohlkönig were doing to make them so fast. I was taking the same lines so it wasn't that. Then I tried what I *think* they were doing and it clicked. I think I have a tendency to overdrive a car, as in, trying to power through a corner. I'm thinking that it is delaying me on getting the power down hard.

This time around I braked, let the car coast through the turn, and then power out. My delta meter immedately shot into the negative, and I was able to shave off nearly 1.3s off of my best time. WOO!

YEEAAAH @Fred Locklear that´s the first time somebody is calling me fast in here :geek::inlove:
...but to be honest @Guus Verver was the really fast guy! His Quali time was 2 sec ahead of mine... My fastest in race was 1.46.1 something i think he was in the 1.44 :notworthy:
But i really had again this feeling were i could gain some time but was again to chicken to risk more in race ...and one time i did i spun and @Olly Stevenson took advantage. Was able to catch up at the end but no chance to overtake (actually till now i have never overtaken anybody except he made a mistake )
But still this was by far my best race till now :geek::thumbsup:
I like this car very much and big thanks again to @Akis Kevrekidis for this decent setup. I fully trusted on you and never tried with default setup ;)

Unfortunately acs.exe crashed when i wanted to leave race so no replay was saved  Wanted to see how @Guus Verver did his times cause i know i suck in the second split!
Maybe somenoe can upload? @Fred Locklear ?

Hi Christoph, maybe this helps

I think its the current WR but there were some mistakes and ive been on better splits so there must be quite some improvement to be still made, but hopefully it can help you figure out what to improve

Im using the setup posted by @Akis Kevrekidis for Vallelunga Club from here http://www.racedepartment.com/threads/ktm-x-bow-r-vallelunga-club.82795/. Great setup thanks Akis :)

Race for me wasnt too intertesting, was trying to hotlap because there were no cars around me. But I still had fun because that Xbow is just such a blast to drive

I can rule out the autoupdates of windows and steam, because I've put all these settings to manual, so I blame my ISP for that!

What was the fastest time for Lotus ?
The qual's fastest time was 1.45.6. At the last 2 laps of the race I managed to beat my qual time by 0.2 sec, although the tires had 98% percent grip left. It must have been that I (we) gradually became more accustomed to the combo as the race progressed.

I am so rubbish, that I am not even able to see much of a difference between that lap and what I do, and I am still 2 seconds slower :'(

To set such a time you need next steps to be done:
- you have to run around 10+ laps so track get enought rubbering on a perfect trajectory.
- try different track temperatures for perfect match (as I think - if your tyres are below 70C, track temp should be set to higher values)
- perfect setup
- low amount of fuel set
And only now you are ready to set some descent time going on same line/speed as on video.

Set up, temperatures and track are all the same, is the hands and feet that differ. You should see my braking bar jumping all around when I do heel and toe...

Maybe some values (grip amount or speed\acceleration) changed with patches since that record was set... I think that at some point when the game would be somewhere around version 1.0 - all the records should be gone to past. And all the leaderboards should start from a new paper.

Well, last night he was nearly 2 seconds faster than the rest of the field*, and we all ran on identical conditions... so yes, grip and physics have changed, but the difference is race-craft. If not everybody could set a WR.

*Well, it might have been a few exceptions, but it is hard to tell what is going on in the front when you are 9th :p

Thank you @Guus Verver :)
Just knowing that you used the same setup is very important info for me...so no excuse anymore :whistling:
I think the line is deceiving... Cause for me too his lap looks pretty the same like my laps BUT it´s not only beeing on the line but also carry as much speed as possible on this line!! AND most important is how much speed you are able to transfer onto the straights - so corner exit - and it´s quite a few km/h that make a quite huge difference!! 2 Seconds are lost quite easy.
Next very important point is CONSISTENSY! I really had the feeling that i could go faster yesterday with just a little more risk. I was so upset about that that i went on hotlapping after the race for about 1,5 h on this combo (also because it was so much fun ;)
...and what can i say i gained time where i thought i am already quite on the limit in first place...not by making something completely different but just by beeing just a little bit better on the brakes having better control through the corner and beeing able push the throttle a little earlier,
I could lower my best to a 1.45.8 BUT now comes the downside :-/
I had laps where i was 0,5 sec faster in first split, which would be on WR level atm!! By seeing that i got nervous and messed up the rest of the lap  Then i "messed up" first split, pressure was gone, suddenly i gained 0,5 sec in second split...just to throw it away in last split by spinnig out in penultimate corner beeing 0,7 sec below my record at that time
So i really could have come closer but i was just not able to bring "the perfect lap" together.

Hence it´s also very much about coolness and consistency and confidence in the limits of the car!

Because a hotlap is fine but bringing it all to race and set one lap after the other on that level is a total different story at least for me ...because my tension is (at least) double when racing :roflmao:
So :notworthy: to @Guus Verver

Still it would be nice to have the replay of the race cause then i could analyze it via software ...at least i hope this is also possible with MP replay...

For the WR replay again, it makes me feel good that my braking points for the whole lap are quite exactly the same like his
...still how i loose 1,2 sec! in the second split puzzles me a bit (because i really came close for the other two splits but not closer than 1 sec for 2. split)...must be exit of campagnano, soratto and tornantino :cautious: I was thinking that soratto could be taken in 3rd gear but obviously not

wow that was a long one :D

For consistency... Once you know your lines and braking points, remove the performance delta app, you will be way more relaxed and the times will come by themselves!
