To be fair WTCC was never really as good as the original ETCC was when it started.

Eurosport boxed it, p[packaged it and tried to sell for money to any venue that would pay for it, and most decent ones stopped paying for it as it did not bring in a crowd at all.

The best eras were sort of 07 ish, then the early diesel era.

Citroen totally destroyed the series spending a year testing a new regs car while everyone was using other ones, and spending millions more than anyone else.

Than ran off back of to rallying after winning a series that got them no plaudits at all coz no-one else was bothered about it after they came in

Citroen only did what Merc are doing in F1 though.
Motorsport is all about the car.... they can try to stop that but then you get TCR, where factory outfits won't enter because if you spend 500k or 4 million you will end up with the cars all BoP'd so the 500k team can still have a chance o beating the 4 million team....
Or you get the BTCC where they BoP from race to race using boost, in fact not BoP they make some cars faster via BHP each round etc, or like with Subaru use it to keep a team happy.
Motorsport is pretty mental.
No way would sim racers allow some of the stuff that goes on in real life in online racing...

As long as I have RaceRoom, WTCC will never die.....just get older.

TC1 killed WTCC for me, so I'm not sad to see it go!!
