Windows 10 2004...

Ran fresh OS on sim tower and it downloaded anti virus and anti malware as normal
went back and checked everyday tower in updates still never downloaded the AV updates

I usually do all drivers, manual W10 updates then go online check again and download AV and MW updates

Seems if I install Malwarebytes Pro before checking W10 updates it takes over and I don't get the windows AV def or anti malware Good find

P.S. Suspicion confirmed
Did a fresh OS on gaming tower
Installed W10 quality updates manually and reboot

W10 manual updates.jpg

Installed Malwarebytes Pro and reboot
Ran W10 updates and I get no downloads
Don't know if that works with free version, I am guessing not

2 quality updates and bugs

Downloaded latest media tool since last quality update it includes the latest Netframe but not Flash or the new cumulative update

Anyway after the first reboot in W10 setup my 43" 4K TV HDMi-HDMi stayed black

Swapped with lead that runs to Gsync monitor DVi-D -HDMi and TV worked

I was helping mate here with the same issue installing 2004

I stick to exact install procedure and had bugs installing some things but eventually got it sorted

So def something in the LAST media tool update ( it is new just updated )

Also bug with MSRT re-downloaded v5.82 even though I already installed in manually
I then went to MSRT link and says download v5.83 BUT it kept downloading v5.82 so bug there too

Fix was to put the v5.83 number in windows catalouge and it is correct version

This link will get you MSRT v5.83 first one in list

I always run MSRT quick once manually so it won't download till there is v5.84

Like I said the new media tool installs Flash update it self
That is why you only see 2 quality updates here ......
That is all you should have done right

Do you mean all W10 updates or just the AV updates?

As far as I know you must auto download anti virus and anti malware definitions they are only available through Microsoft Update and WSUS ( Windows Server Update Services )

For fresh windows offline after install I....

Run fepam.exe
Run MSRT quick scan v5.83
Install Service Stack
Install Cumulative upadte
Go online run updates it downloads 1 antivirus 1 antimalware
run update 2nd time usually downloads another anti malware ...or not

My W10 thumbdrive using first mediatool2004 had Flash security and Netframe updates
New media tool does not ...well as of yet no newer netframe update

Like I said for mine better to do anything manual you can instead get half way through cumulative update and losing wifi or something else
We all had at least one windows update fail ...manual installs lowers the risk
besides Installing any updates manually is little bit faster ;)

I never search for updates, I just wait for them to be offered.

Windows Quality updates are not offered if updates is enabled they download and install no matter
I never said I search for updates either in fact I do the same as you
Just once their offered I download them (no searching involved )
Why ? ....so next fresh OS I can do them .... OFFLINE

Sorry, I wasn’t very clear. I never use the “search for updates” option because it bypasses the system check. I just wait for them to install automatically.

Got weird driver update : Intel - Net - 12.18.11.1

This is a 32Bit version stranger still there is no 64bit version in Catalog I can find :O_o:
Did 2 fresh OS runs to double check and downloads every time for both Gigabyte Pro Wifi B450 and X570

Anyway fix was
Using windows update history download 32bit package from Windows Catalog
Fresh OS offline
Update 64bit Lan driver in device manager manually as normal

Extract the 2 files needed from the 32bit update and drop into:
Windows/System32 (e1r6832.din)

Windows/System32/Drivers ( e1r6832.sys )
Rebooted checked updates and got no download ;)

Once satisficed I create the 2 folders needed in my "drop in a Fresh OS folder"
Paste the 2 files mentioned above into them
Every fresh OS either tower copy my backup before online as usual

File names will be different depending on zone and Lan model
