Not a stupid thought at all, he was lacking charisma I think which made him stand out less than his teammates at times. The eternal mid pack driver maybe or a reliable nr.2 for a top team, but they never saw champion material in him even though he might have been one when given the right drive.It might come as a stupid thought to some, but in my opinion, Nick Heidfeld lacked the selfishness (or egoism) which the top drivers have. He was more like a committed-to-team, modest and consistent kind of driver like Barrichello and Webber. Maybe that is what prevented him from shining.
