We all wanna be faster right?

He all,

We all wanna be faster, and I was thinking about a way not only for my self to improve, but also to help others.
Sure there will be always quite a gap between 1st and last place, but at times it would be nice if it all was a bit closer.

I'm not sure how people think about my idea, but you can let me know :)

The idea is, that for a certain race I will upload 3 laps from 3 different drivers. The fastest lap, someone in the middle of the pack, and a slower lap. Combine them into one video and put in on Youtube.

Then i would post it here on the forums and for those that are interested, or those who don't mind helping others we could discuss what are the exact reason for the fast lap, and where exactly the slower driver loses time and why.

Perhaps someone says, he uses more of the available track, but perhaps its the way he brakes that makes him go faster etc. Or maybe its as simple as changing 4th gear to have a bit higher ratio.

This all without using telemetry. This would be too easy :)

It happened to me where I knew that after a certain corner there would be a long straight, so i thought its best to go for a late apex. However there was also a climb going onto the straight, that might change how my car handles. When i checked some fast laps from others their racing line looked far from normal, but in the end they where by the end of the straight 0.3 seconds faster.
Was it the climb? Was it that i braked too much, or perhaps i went on the gas to late?

I'm not sure if this is a good way to learn a bit more as to why some people are so fast, but I'm trying at least to find a way. I think the more people would join these discussions the better.

Another thing we could do is to take 1 track and pick one car, get from a fast driver a replay + telemetry.
Then for one week you can practice and improve your time to try and come close or beat this lap.

Let's take brands hatch gt3 for example. A car will be chosen, take the 911. Weather / track conditions will be posted.

We then have 1 week to improve (This means for those who have some extra free time besides races that you can do something with kind of a goal.

When someone is stuck they can either compare telemetry, or post a replay / video and people here can give suggestions.

Perhaps a setup should be also posted, best with explanations as to why certain changes have been made.

I think it's a fun thing to do, I don't mind to manage or montage a video, but I'd need the help from a fast driver to get the lap each week :)

I'd love this to be honest. This would teach people how to drive way more than a month of club races.

I tried to import the data from matteo into i2 pro, but it doesnt display steering angle and braking?

Its like it didnt record it?
Very weird. Check if the channel is the correct one. Sometimes there are multiple channel for the same things, but only one of them works.

When i open the demo file in i2 pro it all works. But somehow with yours it doesnt display.

There are 2 files, should I do still something with the extension file?
I opened this software first time today, so maybe im missing something crucial?

Be sure to have them in the same folder.

Wow you waste no time getting back on the throttle!

Comparing this lap with mine I could see you:

Earlier AND more on the throttle after almost each turn (probably also using more of the track than me, allowing this faster acceleration.
By the end of so straights you where sometime 20 to 30! Kmph faster than me.

I also saw my throttle was set up badly and was reaching about 98% of full throttle... sometimes on straights I only had 97%.

You brake WAY harder.

I did a new lap focusing on using more track width on each turn and making sure to get back on the throttle only when my car had rotated enough, going full throttle.

Went from 1:25:8 to 1:24:77
Not bad, still far from 1:23, but an improvement of 1 sec ain't all that bad!

I'm not consistent yet, and my brake and turn in points are not set yet, this is also I should focus on the next time I learn a new track/car combination.

Only thing I miss is to be able to see the position of each car on track. But it should be possible to create I read somewhere.

Isn't it fun to see how bad you are? :roflmao::roflmao:
You are right, it's basically 3 steps:
- trying to copy the inputs/line etc and being way slower
- getting consistent and fast again
- improving a lot the moment you understand what you're doing differently and why it's faster that way

I can suggest to make notes for every little section, printing the done sheet or open it on a tablet/second monitor.

I can send you my preset which shows the lines too :)

You can read a little "example analysis" from me here:
