SCS Software recently teased a new location in development for the excellent American Truck Simulator, and now we know where it will be set - Washington state!

Only a few short days ago (January 15th to be precise), the ever impressive development team behind European Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Sim revealed a new DLC expansion pack is in the works back at SCS HQ, and now we finally get to find out exactly where in the United States the latest pack will be located - Washington!

Like every US state, Washington has its own soul and feel. We have focused on typical landscapes, settlements, industry, cities, and ports. Everything we've done so far exceeds our expectations and we have added an authentic experience from Washington hauling. Gradually, until the release of map expansion later this year, you can look forward to more WA-themed dedicated blog-posts and articles accompanied with screenshots mapping the development progress.

The stated intention of SCS Software is to continue expanding the increasingly impressive American Truck Sim title over the coming months and years, and the decision to create Washington within the sim will aid the Czech development team expand yet further the West Coast of America within the game. Exciting times for content lovers within these popular trucking games.

Washington State will be another destination on US soil. The choice of this territory was logical and henceforth linked to our endeavor to cover the West Coast and create a solid bridgehead for future expansions. This step also opens whole scenic coastal US 101 route. Its northernmost territory will, of course, be part of the Washington DLC and you can grasp the opportunity to drive it all the way from south to north or vice versa. We've tried it already and it's great!

American Truck Simulator and European Truck Simulator 2 are available to purchase for PC right now.

but I have zero interest in driving a truck. I have the game, tried it, but got bored very quickly.

For me, I'm a late to the game. Only bought it late last year and put in about 45 hours in so far.

I can tell you though, I'm REALLY enjoying this game! I don't use my old G27 shifter for racing. My pedals are too far apart for heel n toe. And heel n toe looks like too much work for my knees (I use it for fun once in a while with auto blip enabled of course).

But ever since I've been playing ATS, finally get to use my shifter! Lol

I used to love playing with toy 18 wheeler trucks and the old pc game from the 90's "Cross Country Canada" when I was a kid.
But ATS, for me its far from boring. Most relaxing laid back game I've ever played!

The future is here and I can actually simulate driving the big rig!
While I don't have the most complete setup, my current setup is perfect for me for ATS!

Six speed g27 shifter, trackir 5 pro, sim dashboard app on my tablet mounted to the right side of my monitor, my phone mounted near the left side of my monitor running spotify or radio app for my favorite NBA podcast(s), Simvibe running 4 shakers, ultra wide monitor 34 inch, Sli Pro (using ETS2 pre made profile, that utilizes indicators, hazard lights, cruze control light, speed, gear, rpm etc... LOVING THIS)... I suppose VR would be better, but I'm loving all my eye candy around me. Besides, my pockets nor todays tech is (perfectly) ready for vr.

I may post some pics and a video in near future of my setup playing ATS! My twin brother who's not into sim racing/driving games, but could not get off my damn rig the first few times he tried ATS! Absolutely loved it and couldn't stop smiling!
Gonna make some more money, cover more of the stock map, then get the additional maps including that beautiful Washington map coming out soon!

I know there's a Canadian map mod (didn't work last time i tried installing it), But I would pay and love to see that in ATS or even as its own game. Loving ATS as it is though!

Question:
Are many new roads in older maps likely to be added with DLC/update?
They mentioned that they will open up other roads, like the whole of US101. Can I expect others? I never really played ATS before Oregon DLC was released.
New towns?
New trucks? I suppose new trucks would be a big deal and have their own announcement?

Yes, not many but some roads and even towns were/will be added with updates or new Map DLC.
But US101 will be finished with the upcoming Washington DLC, not open up!
If memory is right, they added one road each in Californa, Arizona and Oregon via updates (plus a new town:Clifton), and of course with every new mapDLC they open up locked roads and also create entirely new roads to link current map with new one. Look for example at northern California before and after Oregon released. Lots of new tarmac to drive.
They already confirmed a new road for Oregon with next update 1.34.
New trucks indeed have their own announcement, and are always part of a major update. That means you get them for free. Next confirmed major update is 1.35 and is expected to see daylight late spring so hopefully we get the first of 2 new trucks announced for 2019 by then.
And guys this year will be awesome because not only we get probably 2 new trucks but also most likely 2 new states.
Developers said a second map team is working hard to make that possible (99,9%Utah). And future is even brighter,a third map team in the making...
