Ahead of the big VR, Bentley and Misano "EA Release 2" for ACC, Kunos Simulazioni have released a few very nice teaser images from the upcoming content release...

With only two short days left to wait for the first major content update for Assetto Corsa Competizione, Kunos Simulazioni have released a nice set of rather attractive preview images in the form of some stunning shots of the mega Bentley Continental GT3 and Misano Circuit, the two major new pieces of content set to hit ACC this October 10th.

Slightly more difficult to reflect in screenshot form, the new release scheduled for this Wednesday will also be notable for the first pass at supporting Virtual Reality (VR) in the sim - a very exciting development for ACC, and something that is sure to please quite a few of the sim racing community (myself included).

Of course this is the first update for ACC since the game deployed into the public realm via Steam Early Access back in September, and it will be interesting to see what other tweaks, improvements and features Kunos can add to an already very impressive simulation in the four weeks since it made its public debut.

Once it's up and running VR is superb even at this early stage, performance seems excellent even on my ageing i7 4770K and my suddenly so last gen 1080Ti.

The real advantage is the whole piont of VR which is the cars just feel so much more alive and real, car control is just so much more intuitive. I'm sure the steering feel and feedback has improved since release 1 and in VR the feel of what the car is doing is up there with the best of the current games. The difference between the safe and aggressive setups is huge and instantly noticeable in the way the cars slide and react. That handling feel and finesse that was always the Kunos/AC difference is back, for me at least (I haven't changed any settings except increase the new road feedback to 50). Full praise where it is due the cars really do feel good, the true car scale and being able to see depth in the corners in VR makes for such a better experience.

Yes sure there are many aspects of ease of use etc that I'm sure will be improved so nothing more to say about that

The VR driving experience itself is a fabulous start for ACC and I'm impressed with game performance given how many other Unreal games suffer all sorts of framerate issues.

are you using Oculus, Vive or a WMR headset???

no real traking and worst performance ever on a Samsung Odyssey here..

7600k @ 4.8 and 1080 @ 2070 mhz here.....

No

So I read in an older tech article that SMP can be integrated into the Unreal Engine, however it seems like you have to build this into the game from the very beginning...implementing it after the fact is "near impossible"...is this why we don't, and probably never will have triple screen support in ACC? Kunos didn't get the SMP version of the engine? Just curious, as I have no plans of going to VR, but it'll be really hard going back to one screen for this game.

The macro stuterings is heavy on normal screens too. It is happen on the same points, main straight and on corner 10. It seems related with live time, ghosts of something similar. The engine is not doing pre-cache, and the game graphics and sound stop until the task is done, but the physics is still running, so, when the graphics come back, the car are ahead. The inputs are still valid. If I change a gear, the car will change the gear, if I turn the steering wheel, the car will move.

It is like some task that are not handled on background without stoping the graphichs and sound engine.

I use HDD. People with SSD probably didnt note this, because the task will work fast.

I've the same rig as you: i7 4790k 4.0 GHz / 4.4 GHz (Turbo) - GTX 1080 - 16 GB DDR3 - Monitor 3840x1080 144hz. But with 2 SSD: one for the OS and another one for the games.
And indeed, I never had any stutering.
Update 2 is not yet available here in Belgium but I let you know if they're any changes.

Strange, I'm also in Belgium and got it at 6:12 pm ....
If I were you, I'd quit Steam and restart it.... if you wish to have it quickly ;)

NB if I remember correctly, when Steam remained open waiting for AC updates ... I didn't get them and needed to restart Steam .... to update it.

Had a blast here in VR this evening, on an Oculus Rift CV1.

Big surprise - hadn't realised it was releasing today.

Had to knock a few of the graphics options down from 'Epic' but had a pretty decent 20 car race at night with rain effects etc and it ran really smoothly.

I have an 8700k and 980Ti.
