AC Vintage GT3 @ Nordschleife - Sunday 9th June 2024

Assetto Corsa Racing Club event
It was an exhausting race like I expected. I'm very happy having mate no mistake during the race, only a few flaws. My strategy was to make no tyre change, staying on mediums all the race. So my stop was much shorter compared to Fulvios stop, how drove two stints on softs, changing them in the pits.

So Fulvio being faster in lap times, he closed the gap to me in the last lap and made hard pressure on me during the last half of the last lap. That was thrilling and I'm happy I didn't throw it in the woods. Unfortunately Fulvio passed me on the last straight and I didn't have enough time in his slip stream for a counter attack. I slightly had my nose next to his rear when we reached the flatout chicane but I didn't want to be a Bottas, so backed off and was happy with P2. I really thougth about faking a mistake through Schwalbenschwanz to let him pass me to be in the slip stream at the last straight. But I wasn't brave enough to do so. :whistling:

See my race setup attached if interested. I also used it in qualy with less fuel...

I made it back in time to do a warmup lap in practice. Real weird to jump from my road car straight into my sim

Promised myself not to crash, so build up the qualy slowly. Not a pb (did two 8:17's in practice offline), but a decent couple of laps to get me qualified on the grid, happy with that

Race start, trying to not hit anyone and not dive bomb the T1 of gp track. Managed to do that, saw Hank way high in the sky above us, and he had to leave a few moments later. On to the Nords, I like that so much, right away, the first section is awesome. Was on Thomas' tail and he was trying not to hit Casper, lots of braking lights in front of me I had to take in acount. Watched Casper to predict Thomas' braking point. At Swedenkreuz, I had to brake a little to avoid hitting Thomas, so Brain had to slam the brakes, us touching and I saw him flying in the mirror, sorry mate! Later on same kinda situation with Jason, last chicane before entering GP straight, so saw Jason spinning off in my mirrors. Ernie went off in front of me half way GP-track, lots of flying cars today  .

After Casper went off and left, I tried to keep up with Thomas for a while, and I somehow managed to do that. He was on mediums, I could follow a lap or so, and I pitted at the end op laps 3, hoping to be able to make up some time on him later on. Outlap went nice and easy, I was allready proudly thinking I was going to do a clean Nords race, until the hairpin before the long uphill lefthander, I overpowered the car and hit the barrier, spun, had some troubles getting back in the right direction. So, back on the chase again. Lesson learned; don't Think & Drive  .

Finished the race quite lonely, but managed to stay on the track. P5 in the Z4, surviving, not killed anyone myself, able to chase and race, best consistency 99.4 and only one major spin due to driver error. Better than I ever did here before. So, progress, I guess?

Congrats to the podiums, great pace guys!
Thanks Brian!

Got a decent start. A bit of back and forth with the cars around. All started to unravel at left kink to aremberg. I lifted early but had to jam on tk avoid Thomas and Boukah, both heavy breaking behind Casper. Laurent I think came off the worst when he slammed into my car and the barrier.

Tried to catch back up but ran out of skill! Sorry to leave you alone @Partick Eaton , as above I hit a barrier backwards and the was race over!

Thanks to all for racing and congrats the Fulvio and the podium! See you for the next one!

Le Mans.

Practice server is up!!

I usually don't have time or in the mood for racing on a Sunday evening but saw it was nords with less than an hour before qualy. I have been driving on nords a bit on ACC when it released and wanted to see how it compares to AC now. I used a setup that Brian provided for the Mercedes. First quite conservative lap was a 8:19, so I was comfortable of getting in the 8:15 range or better. But as I started to carry more speed through the corners I kept losing my rear during the qualy session. That meant damage and no timed lap. The setup really didn't work for me. I upped the rear wing two clicks and tried that for half a lap during qualy and that worked much better. But that meant I had to start P11 I think. I had a good fight with Brian through a few corners but then there was a very early brake in front and I drove hard into Brian. My car spun in the barrier and I had suspension damage, so game over. I hope it didn't wreck your race Brian, it didn't look like it. So yeah, not even halfway through lap 1 :(

I think my car was braced against the barrier when you hit me so a big impact. My rear aero was damaged. Made things more difficult from there on!

Think I found the reason for the slow spin of death, like a “nit wit”, I for some strange reason, mainly because of my slow qualifying lap took a lot of front ARB off the thing.
Which unfortunately for me dialled in too much front grip, it was from then on a spin waiting to happen, you live and learn.:(
