The "What Are You Working On?" Thread

Family portrait time :D
Something missing from your family portrait methinks.:whistling:

I have a question. For the cage/exoskeleton I want to use the MultiMap_MNDetail Shader because I want the whole thing to have that "handpainted with Hammerite" flair but still have an underlying rgb map for shadowy parts etc. As you see it works when I load a 100% transparents texture into the txDiffuse slot. But when I load other coloured textures into the txDetail slot the cage stays black. What's the issue here?

The diffuse gets multiplied with the detail channel if diffuse has alpha transparency, if not it just shows the diffuse on its own. So if it's black, either diffuse is black, or detail is black. That way 0*0 makes the outcome also 0.

Thx, got it to work. Gimp for some reason did not want to export a single layer set to 10% Opacity as transparent, but I could "load" another channel into the dds via DXT Bmp. This actually fixes a similar problem I had with the Lotus.

Some more fixes on the mirrors and rear lights....no more renders i promise
Exterior wise only the fuel cap left to do i guess ... and the whipers

Also this is the naked 3d model....no AO baking or textures yet (only in the rear light and indicator) the AO will make it alot more perfected as it will hide any imperfections

Going on full throtle to the interior now cheers !

Edit: AO quick test on Body

Wow man, just f****ing wow!! One of the most beautiful compositions M GmbH has ever put out. You nailed it.

Any intention of modeling the 'BMW MOTORSPORT' on the rims? That's like the coolest detail even though of course it could be done by texture just as well.

Thanks for pushing the development through like that!

I believe it would be better if making a texture with normal map for that as it would take alot of tris for it

I think I can safely say - if you decide to start THIS ONE over...I may just have to kill myself. :D :roflmao: :sneaky:
On a serious note... It's really beautiful. I wish I had artistic talent. But, alas...I can't even draw a straight line with a ruler. :(

The illegitimate racing brother really is a beautiful "child of questionable parentage".

Ofcourse, we Scots would normally say that a little more plainly. And, we really do mean it as a term of endearment, reserving it for our most dear friends n family.
I thought it best though, to tone it down for an open forum...

Wasn't refering to road mesh/layout/lap times more the visual fidelity and general look and feel which it captures quite nicely and that is a hard thing to do.

As for accurate racing even if the track was spot on, without weather/daytime it's useless beyond grabbing Screenshots anyway.

Please don’t stop what you’re doing just because the layout isn’t perfect. It’s a great track and this is the only representation we have, so let’s run with it. If someone could get the AI issues sorted out it would be icing on the baguette.

Look at that rear wing.

You could stack several editions of the encyclopedia Britannica up on there and still have space for a few Enid Blytons.

Well if you get the physics working fine chances are way higher to find a modeller willing to help ;)

They work absolutely fine.

But I haven't really found that's the case to be honest. Most of the time it's been me and a sound guy making their parts for a modeller.

Modellers coming to physics people is a rare situation in my experience.
