I've been reading some time ago about AutoUnion cars. When russians took them, they soon destroyed the engines, because they didn't know that those engines were using special mixtures. At least it happened with Type C/D the hillclimb version, thats for sure. They almost destroyed that car, totally, with no care at all.

I don't know what that mixture was, perhaps there were some tear gas, who knows. :D

Can't wait for Donnington 1937, it looks so good, and so fun ! Going through gates, bridge and between the farm buildings, and then that long straight, nice curves, some funky jumps, nice slow hairpin after long straight for some contrast, it is going to be so nice, really waiting for that track, looks really good @jim lloyd
 
I stood next to 1 of those at FOS as they fired it up and revved it a bit, pure madness, it was so loud you could feel the sound in your vocal cords and I assume they run on tear gas or something, made my eyes and nose water like crazy!

The original fuel was pure poison. Drivers reported of extreme itching and the feeling their skin was burned, when they get hit by some drops during refilling. It was a mixture of fuel, alcohol and some things they never really published... guess why.:whistling:

what are Mercedes and Audi using today in this machines...?? Perhaps the old mixture?:sick:

something pretty similar I'd imagine, that year the theme was 100 years of Audi at FOS and there were a bunch of those there, not sure which it was that I saw running in the paddock area but it had something nasty coming out the exhaust that's for sure!
 
In this days you could so easily get killed in on of this monsters, i think nobody cares about late consequences of this fuel mixtures.

Just watch the Donington 1938 video and recognize how extreme safe these wonderfull white fence doors and the bridge directly outside of the track are looking... or mention the Berlin Avus... with banking made of wood and topspeeds of more than 350 km/h... And when i now think of halo...man, this thing is simply ridiculous.
 
Depending on how you UV mapped the terrain you should try to bake in some AO under those trees. It will make the wooded area look much more natural. Looks great thus far though!

EDIT: Oh and it looks like the trees are X trees instead of Y trees. Y works best.

Yes they are x. Still struggling with making the y trees look full enough and the shading with those hard edges. Dunno why i cant get my head around the way tree shading works (even after your great tutorial). Ill figure it out and when i do i will be happy
 
How do you get on adding 3D grass to those areas though? I came up against that problem on my Deutschlandring track (and will again on my Feldbergring track too) - when you add an AO effect to the terrain the 3D grass no longer matches / blends. You either have to forego the shadows, or have a range of 3D grass with various tones and position them meticulously :(
 
I dont think this is gonna be a problem in my case. I have kept those areas free of 3d grass. Am experimenting with a normal map (random noise) over the whole terrain. Its working really nice to fill in the detail outside of the fences

I can tell you exactly what the mixture was when I'm back home next week - the book I bought on the W125 has it in the text and I'm sure the Auto Union cars were same/similar. It's a total witches' brew...
 
I'm working on fixing Nardo and the big problem it has is that it doesn't record laptimes properly. I have no idea where the problem resolutes but I stumbled across the overlays.ini. There are two checkpoints but they are on the same place.
My questions are:
  • Has the overlays.ini file anything to do with the problem?
  • If so, how do I fix it?

Baked/painted a bit the exhaust, funny how once it's done it doesn't look like it's baked, it just looks natural.

No, overlays.ini is used in the time attack mode. Make sure the AC_TIME_number_L and _R are positioned correctly.

Lotus 49 575kg, tires 205 front, 330 rear. Twice as wide.


Does anyone know, for tire shadows, what size the texture is? I tried to measure and it seemed some amount like .7x.7m but I'm not sure exactly.

After releasing the Gallery82 Motorsports Hybrid F1 livery, I started on a fictional BAR 2017 livery. The livery is almost done and then I need to edit the suits and other textures. :)
