rF2 SuperTouring @ Red Bull Ring - 29th Aug 2024

rFactor 2 Racing Club event
Hi Roy. What sort of lap times were you getting? Want to see if I'm anywhere close to the pace. I have my AI set to 105% and can just keep up.
Another few questions :)
Does the DRS do anything with these cars?
Is there a way to change from left hand drive to right hand drive. Sometimes when I take out the Mondeo its right hand drive and then next time its left hand drive? Seems strange.

AI's are basically useless in rF2 as it depends on the creator of the cars and the track when it comes to speed.
DRS doesn't do anything! :D

For the Mondeo it is relatively easy. LHD = Left Hand Drive. RHD = Right Hand Drive.

For some other cars, like the Peugeot 406 it is BTCC for Right Hand Drive, and STW for Left Hand Drive.

Then you got cars like the Nissan and Vauxhall who all have Right Hand Drive, while the BMW and Volvo only have Left Hand Drive :)

Thanks Ole, that all makes sense, I dont know how I didn't notice the RHD versus the LHD

The top 3 Laptimes will be in this range : 1.39.150 - 1.39.900 .
If I am totally wrong ( more than 1 second ) you can correct me after the race ;):coffee:

@PBreslin (and others)

I did a lap (or more than one), you can see my throttle and brake-input there. I run 540 degrees on my wheel in the Logitech profiler. Setup of the car is default with three changes: Less fuel (I have a bit over 20 when I started the lap of the video, some more out from the pits obviously), tyre pressures at the lowest... because rF2. And brake-balance as can be seen in the video 57:43, the brake balance thing is purely personal preference, IIRC Roy runs with more to the front than default. The steering wheel input in game is not 100% 1 to 1 from what I have, but let's say it is 0.9-0.95 to 1 ;P

Also, Stig isn't off by a second, but slightly off! :p

Very fast lap, Looks like I'm only going to see the back of your new livery in the distance during the race., The only thing I notice is that you are using fourth gear for the second last corner, I was changing to third here. Must try fourth at practice this evening. You also seem to be able to change up the gears quicker after the hairpin. I'm using the Mondeo so that may be a car thing.

The cars are indeed slightly different in performance, but not sure it should be that much difference.
I think it is worth saying that at the moment, there is nothing in simracing I find more fun than to drive these cars, so I would almost be a bit disappointed if I'm not somewhat fast in them.
The fourth gear in the second to last corner was actually a small mistake as the car got loose when I intended to shift down, but I suddenly needed both hands on the wheel.

While it is not a definitive guide, it might help to look at the brake/throttle overlay, and get some pointers there :) We've had multiple drivers in the rF2 club since I took over around summer 2020, who have been racing at the back, and suddenly just had something click with themselves and rF2 - that might happen for you as well all of a sudden ^^,

I noticed alright thet you are using full braking and then ease off your braking and ease on the trottle and sometimes a quick dab of the brakes again to settle the car. I have watched your video multiple times and notice something new every time. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. :geek:

That was two very different races.

The first one was proper chaos, with fighting "here, there and everywhere".
The second one was opposite, but wasn't any calmer. I was able to not lose more than 1-2 tenths a lap to Mark and Hartmut if I drove mistake free, then I just had to hope for them to fight enough to let me join the battle.

Phew! Fun! :D
