Show us your Model Cars Collection!

Rather a complex question but in a (more or less) brief description:
I use RTV Rubber for resin casting and with a dash of Carbon Black for tyres: my master patterns are carved from wax, carved out of rosewood or machined or turned on a couple of Mini CAD Lathes and/or a CAD Mini Milling machine. Styrene sheet (aka Plasticard), shim Brass, Aluminum sheet in many gauges, Copper/Brass/Aluminum/Styrene tube and all manner of rod and wire. It goes on and on.
However, as a starter for your project Styrene sheet (I use 'Evergreen') and rod is the most basic medium and depending on your skill set perhaps a few patterns to use for resin casting. Resin Casting is pretty straight forward if one reads up the instructions and follows them exactly, a set of top loading digital scales is a must have for measuring out both RTV and Resin but they are easily found in cookery appliance retailers, buy mid range, the cheap ones are rubbish and the expensive ones overpriced.
Without going into more mind numbing specifics start out simple, find out as much as you can from one of the Scale Modelling groups, aircraft/amour/cars, model building is just model building, remember there are no dumb questions, only dumb answers and be very patient.
I've done this for a very long time, less these days as I have other priorities, but once learned one never forgets the skills. And do not be discouraged when something fails, just learn from any mistakes or problems.
Ask questions, the answers are out there.

Cheers! Casting resin is something I'd probably leave for my next project. Or maybe I'll make mold from my new camaro nose as soon as i finish it. I'm using styrene sheets of various width, combining some techniques - like some bits are few sheets sandwiched to each other (and then grinded, grinded and more grinded), in other places I'm first building a frame and then bending styrene upon that frame.
Maybe I'll decide making another Camaro like that, so probably after I finish this nose, it'll be a neat idea to make a mold of it to make life easier next time.

Boy it's hard to hold a flaslight in one hand and snap shots with mobile on the other...

Super jealous of these collections, stunning work guys!

Don't really collect myself, but my RC collection is as close as it gets I suppose.

Collection for sale, whole hog. I might hang onto the Dale Olympics car and the McLaren F1.

Obscured is a 288 GTO race car. Hidden gems are the Petty Enterprises cars that came in cereal boxes.

I wish I had more space, so I could display all of my cars.

I also have an artwork to go with the GT40, but after an incident I never hung it above it. Eventually I'll get all three cars in the image, and I'll have a cool display... Eventually.

As promised on page 1 the other car in my collection, plus a story for some of the others:

On the day I was born Mario Andretti drove this very car to victory in the USA Grand Prix West in Long Beach, I didn't know it existed so finding it on eBay was great:

I kept trying for the classic Blue and White Rally Version of this childhood favourite RS200, but they were always out of reach of my wallet, so grabbed this instead...but I will get that Rally Version one day!

This car won the Rally Of Portugal the month before I was born, my first car was an MKII Ghia 1.6 and that's the rear badge off it:

In 2012 I went to the Daytona 500 for the infamous Monday Night race after it was rained off the Sunday, that was the night Montoya decided to drive into the Air Blower truck and cause a fireball which melted the track...race eventually finished at 1am. Can't recall if I got this Marcos Ambrose car whilst in Florida, it may of been a Brands Hatch purchase later that year:

Looks like someone's won a few "major awards"...

"fra-gee-lay, must be Italian. I think that says fragile, honey"

"Only one thing in the world could’ve dragged me away from the soft glow of electric sex gleaming in the window"

"NOT A FINGER!!!" :roflmao:

Got a new bookcase for the models and got some nice lighting for them too. Also have six new 1:24 diecasts arriving over the next few days.

I'm collecting 1:18 diecasts for quite a while and change/sell some from time to time. Also I have a few more not displayed...
Love the shelves mate! Self-built?
I'm looking at yellow Kyosho Daytona for ages, but minding I'm trying to avoid Kyosho, haven't still considered.

You'll probably enjoy this, just ordered this one the other day and it should be at my house first of the week. :whistling: My favorite show/car of all time, no doubt. I totally geek out when I get into my current car and see all the screens and buttons and nav system and feel the turbo boost, it's like my own K.I.T.T.! It will be parked next to a General Lee model I'm about to start putting together, and those will be bookended by the original Batmobile and the DeLorean from Back to the Future.

Yup it's a lovely model. Kinda shame it's the only Firebird model with actually working pop-up lights (if not counting the K.A.R.R)
Still considering about this as well though, because in general as much as I love firebird and KITT, I don't like black diecasts. The only I have now is AutoWorld's Ford Torino Cobra, which looks badass in black, with splitter and louvers, but it has a lot of chrome parts which make it stand out. Usually black diecasts look kinda hidden among the rest of collection.

As for DeLorean, I'd suggest taking AutoArt's now, and don't consider it for too long. They just got a 2nd issue, so the prices are quite low-peaking at the moment, later they will skyrocket.
