INFORMATION & BASIC RULES

  • It is the responsibility of faster cars to safely overtake slower cars. When a faster car is overtaking a slower car (in a different class), whether a blue flag is being shown to the slower car or not, the slower car should be predictable and remain on the racing line. The faster car should execute the overtake only when it is safe to do so. If a faster car is lapping another car in the same class then the same rule applies; some cooperation may be required to facilitate the overtake. Please be sensible.
  • All of the standard Racing Club Rules still apply to this event.
  • You do not need to nominate which car you will drive, but should specify in which class you would like to drive when signing up.

SERVER IS UP!

You don't need it either :)

Heard about Ty Majeski? Part-time NASCAR driver, full-time iRacer. He was ranked #1 and #2(!) of oval-racers on iRacing. He has several thousand wins(!). He was/is the only oval-racer with an iRating of over 10000. He also has that on both his users. Back in 2019 he had led almost 100k laps out of 125k possible laps in his races(!)

Why do I mention this? Well. This is him in 2017.

He updated his PC and got a shifter in 2019!

He then asked for any ideas about upgrades, rigs and so on. And posted in 2020 that he had to upgrade.

He needed some more cooling.

He hasn't posted much about rigs the last year, so he might've gotten a "proper rig". But it really shows that you can be quick with relatively basic equipment! :)
In the end though, it's all about fun! :)
Ha! Maybe that cooler would help my graphics card :D

It's good enough :)

@Ole Marius Myrvold I remember you mentioned something about liveries and liveries done right. Is there a way to validate if my custom livery will work properly? I was able to join the server without issues but not sure if this is enough.

Oh, that question have so many answers, but I don't know which would be the right one.
You should not make a new team/driver, just add the skin to an existing car.
If you join the server with a livery, then change it, but keep the same name of the file, anyone who downloaded the first one, will not get the new one.
If you wonder if others can see it... Are you on the server now?

Hm I actually did both as I wasn't sure :D I created a new driver/team but also used a standard livery.

Yes, currently I'm on the server. Michael as well and he can see the livery :D

Then I'll use the non-custom driver/team livery. In my case the mini image (time sheet) doesn't update and still shows the livery from the existing car but the livery seems to be fine.

Fingers crossed it will work on Friday.
If you still need help, and want some advice on how to use the "Region" file, I'll be on the server tonight so talk to me then.

Ole's tutorial/guide thing doesn't have much information about the region file. With the new UI update, I have almost completely sussed out how to use the Region file, and it's a really clever system once you understand it, so I can talk you through it if you'd like.

Nope. When I made it, changing materials in the spinner didn't apply on track (tbh, still don't know if it does). Also, it was made when we had quite a lot of issues with drivers getting kicked when we moved from warm-up to race due to custom liveries :)
It was, and is meant as a guide on how to get it to work online, not how to make liveries, or use region maps. There's enough guides for that already ^^, Not to mention the official one from S397 https://docs.studio-397.com/users-guide/how-to-paint-a-car-with-the-new-material-system

Sad, I just lost connection to my wheel. Like ffb and direction were still working, but none of the controls... Anyone experienced that (CSW 2.5 / CSL McLaren) ?

Good fighting with you guys P4 to P7 that was really enjoyable !

See you next week hopefully :)

EDIT: Apparently my Fanatec drivers weren't up to date. I guess that's it.

That's a new one! :o

Too bad, it was great seeing you in the Ligier there! I use the Caddy due to a livery being made for me on it, but I might change for later, I like the diversity! :)

I don't know if that was the setup I was running, but the DPis were crushing me on the straight and speed, but I was able to get back to you in braking zones and corners. That was really fun!
