Team-by-Team Review: 9th to 1st
#9 - Amazulu FC
Amazulu FC could only secure a 9th place with 6 wins, 5 draws and 5 losses, with 23 points. They could obviously have gone fro some more points though.
#8 - Leicester City FC
You probably know that Leiceseter City FC have won the 2015/16 Premier League title, but in the 17th RPS season, they could only manage to get 6 wins and 6 draws. Leicester only managed 8th with 24 points.
#7 - Nazionale Piloti
Nazionale Piloti and their Formula One drivers were poor on the first half of the season, with only 1 win, 2 draws and 3 losses. However, in the second half, their results went better thanks to Fernando Alonso being a master at free kicks, and they would get 6 more wins. They were equal with 25 Goals For and Against, and they had 25 points, which put them in 7th place.
#6 - Middlesbrough FC
Middlesbrough FC had a promising effort in the first 5 rounds of the season, but after their round break, they could only clinch a single game win until round 12. In the last 5 games, they took 4 wins and only 1 draw, which helped them clinch 6th with 25 points, as they have scored more goals than Nazionale Piloti.
#5 - Manchester United
Manchester United were one of the title contenders for the 17th RPS season. However, a few losses and draws prevented them from chasing for the title, and they had to stick with 5th and 26 points.
#4 - Borussia Delmenhorst
Borussia Delmenhorst were one of the promising title contenders. Being true dominators of the season, their competitiveness started to fall in the last 4 games of the season, with a draw against St. Pauli FC, and three straight losses against Adelaide United, Besiktas JK and HJK Helsinki respectively, which shocked the Delmenhorst fans. However, despite having 26 points, they eventually finished 4th in the standings due to the Goals For rule, as they scored 33 goals.
#3 - Tampa Bay Rowdies
Known as the team which had the least draws ever this season, they never had a drawn game until the 15th round, when they played against English club Middlesbrough and came in with 2-2. As they won in their last game of the season against Besiktas JK, they finished 3rd with 28 points, ahead of Borussia Delmenhorst. Obviously, they were not considered as one of the title contenders though.
#2 - SexyPöxyt
Finnish club SexyPöxyt have been leading sometimes this season, but they even came under pressure from two title contenders, Borussia Delmenhorst and Adelaide United. They were the most defending team, as their Goals Against was only 17. With Tapio Rinneaho doing a good job with the team, they would unfortunately lose out to Adelaide United in the last round of the season. They had equal wins, draws and losses, but lost out due to the Goals For rule. They finished 2nd with 32 points.
#1 - Adelaide United
Defending champions Adelaide United had a great title defence this season. With a great title last season, they proved themselves to be competitive again, losing only 2 times, the lowest for both the team and SexyPöxyt. They won 9 times, but their defence was poor sometimes, as every team scored 39 goals against them. But, Adelaide United would eventually win the title as they scored 37 goals, 5 more than SexyPöxyt. They finished the season as champions with 32 points.
Season 18 thread coming soon, I promise!
