RIP Dan Gurney: 1931 - 2018

I was at the 1967 German G.P. and was rooting for Dan to win. He got the lead after Jim Clark retired and it appeared he was on his way to a win. I remember how disappointed I was when he had to retire.
A.J. Foyt had nothing but nice things to say about Dan after he passed. He not only acknowledged his talent but, he said Dan had a reputation as a very fair and clean racer. That's quite a compliment. R.I.P. Dan.

Racing will forever be in debt to what Dan Gurney brought to the sport. A true Icon in every sense of the word.

One of my childhood heroes. Unabashedly American, he took the fight to Europe in a time when it was thought that Americans could not compete there ... Gurney proved them wrong.

Drive on Dan!

The driver who was too great, even for the GT-40! ;)

And who really sped up things, without flapping about! ;)

In all Seriousness though, my condolences to his family and it's sad to se him go, the world is a poorer place for his passing.
