Available to download now from the Steam Workshop, you can check out the V1.1 update notes below:

  • Removed inside double skin 3d mesh for all cars bonnet glass - with new shaders since last update, is no longer needed.
  • Fixed dark side windows on 787b, now looks like other cars.
  • Animated wipers added to 962c and C11.
  • All wipers are fully operational and clean glass etc.
  • All windows for all cars re-exported with new uv for rain.
  • Rain on all car bodies/banner has been added and water direction movement configured as well.
  • Re-exported all car liveries with removed wiper shadows inside them because they now move and look wrong.
  • Edited and re-saved the Templates pack with all car changes if templates are wanted by you guys.
  • All cars have new backfire instead of old backfire - thanks s397.
  • RPM light added to 787b.
  • Lods made and added for all cars.
  • Improved mirror mapping on all cars

Rain racing - Please disable reflections in-game when racing in rain due to reflections in wet weather not working correctly on windscreen areas outside of the wiper clean area and because these windscreens have a lot of non wiper area compared to most due to windscreen shape, therefore making it more visible.

Apologies for another template change, it was un-avoidable and had to be done to accomodate rain support properly.

Physics
  • Manual Documentation updated to v1.1.
  • All Cars - Added aerodynamic upgrades to force AI run different setups on certain tracks
Mazda 787B
  • Revised slick tyre's grip loss on rain
  • Revised heating of wet tyres on dry condition
  • Revised clutch torque on shifter to avoid abuse on downshifts
  • Revised grip on AI front tyres
  • Revised FFB options on upgrades
  • Removed blip sound while using shifter (again)
Porsche 962

  • Revised fuel consumption for each turbo step on both engines
  • Revised slick tyre's grip loss on rain
  • Revised heating of wet tyres on dry condition
  • Revised clutch torque on shifter to avoid abuse on downshifts
  • Revised FFB options on upgrades
  • Rob Wollek added to car #86

Rf2 Has become my favorite sim , ok it still might not have the graffics that many people seek, but to me it looks great, the driving feel in my eyes ,the way it feels is second to none, great mods, and regular updates if any one hasn't got this yet ! your missing allot.

@jonelsorel rf2 isn't free to play game.

Wouldn't that be cool, tho, eh? People whining about the graphics of a free game. :)

Regarding rf2 or any other game's graphics is that you see it before you buy it. There's even a demo of it available, just to make sure. So why buy it and whine about it after, as if it's a total surprise? This when Studio397 made quite an effort to bring all the bells and whistles of DX11 to it.

The fan boys are a bit much to take. That comment about graphics is not really off the mark. As much as I love the physics and ffb of rf2, man, the graphics are just painful. I think all he was saying was, wouldn't it be nice if it looked at least as good as say AC. That would be a dream. I can't imagine who would disagree that the graphics in rf2 could be improved.
Is it needed in an updated mod thread though? Ok in a post from S397 talking about their sim perhaps, but here? Just seems out of place. The modders have no power over how the sim looks.

yes, yes... we all agree graphics can be improved... but reading that on every single post about rf2 is like a broken record, especially when it's about a mod which btw, has already improved graphics.

Oh my gooooooooood...... it looks way better real time, screenshots does not make justice for rF2.

Though I have seen some crazy screens made by users in the forum.

Anyone to race online these group C cars soon ?

So ANYWAY what's the thread topic MOD like to drive anyone? I may grab it later.
We ran these cars a few weeks ago (before this update) in an RD club race event. The response was pretty positive, I must say. I'm not saying that it's perfect and it might not be to everybody's taste, but I think everyone who raced said they loved it.
There are some options, in the Tuning Menu - most notably a FFB strength selector. The default FFB was way too strong for me, and for the other guys I spoke to about it. We were running it at 2 or 3 out of ten and that seemed about right to me.
Try it Marc, it's free. :D

Yes, and you know what, AC fanboys are a bit much to take as well. They come to rF2 forums all the time and poop on threads claiming how AC graphics are better. Are they? Let's see.

Yes, onboard AC looks better (and I agree onboard is more important as we spend the most time there), but if you look at recent content (McLaren 720) it's not night and day difference anymore. However, when we look at exterior cameras, AC simply sucks. Maybe I need to change something in my settings and please tell me what in that case because I hate how AC renders the cars. It is so fake looking.
The cars look like they don't belong in the game. They look like badly extracted samples from a random picture and pasted in without paying attention to lighting. Below are some examples, first two images from AC, the rest from rF2. I tried to be as fair as possible and wanted to take more samples from AC, but I've learned that Alt-tabbing while in replay mode freezes AC for me. I'm not about to load a game, drive around to grab one screen and repeat every time the game crashes to post more pics. The two here should be enough to show what I'm saying.

rR2 on the other hand has great looking cars. They just mesh nicely with the environment and look like they belong there. I'm talking strictly about cars (stock content), tracks are a different issue and will again depend on how good is the mod (Hockenheim mod here, I didn't want to use Sebring which would be way better). For AC I used stock Nurburgring.

The images are taken straight from the games (replays) as I play them. No tweaking, no photo modes apart from resizing and cropping. I actually have the gfx settings higher in AC than in rF2, lol. To be completely honest, both AC and rF2 look slightly better in game than these screenshots, but it doesn't change the fact that AC cars look badly pasted in. How can people not see that? I installed natural look mod for AC, but it didn't help. Possibly that's the reason why AC images are less saturated. Oh, and what's up with chromatic aberration in AC? Is it supposed to look cool?

So here you go, head to head images. IMO, rF2 kills AC when it comes to exterior graphics.

BTW, I still think Raceroom from onboard looks better than both AC and rF2, even though it is still on DX9. Crazy

Thanks Denis, yeah I fully intent to grab it later, these days I tend to stick to Official content for reasons I won't divulge here but this mod has grabbed my attention :)

Looking forward to try this mod, those cars are always interesting to drive and the feeling of those small cockpits in VR are always a pleasure. Thank you for all the efforts to make those mod car as realistic as possible, it adds to the experience and understanding of what those real drivers have to deal with. Keep up the good work.:)
