Well interesting weekend that was. The broadcast dropped completely with all commentators at the start of the warmup so I had to step out of my mini, run to the broadcast truck and do the camerawork myself (captain never leaves ship lol) so I missed out on Race 1.

As there were no commentators left for the remainder of the event I tried to race 2 the best I could so i collect at least some points not to go straight down to server 2 next weekend. Well got tapped from behind, damaged my car and had a flat that needed changing. Finished last but in front of two DNF's.

Wished for a better weekend, but that's racing also :) See you all next week!

The incident made no sense to me behind the wheel; my tail kicked out to the left as if I was hit from behind, yet the replay doesn't show any contact between me and the third car. Very bizarre. I spun around and unfortunately I screwed your race in the process

It's an event I'd love to forget. On to the next one, likely back in Div 2.

Lucky I've got beer.

Championship-busting event for me. Anyone with a replay can see what happened in race 1, and due to the puncture i picked up I had to pit. This meant i had no chance of progressing and finished nearly last.

In race 2 i picked up as many points as i could, but the championship is completely over now, especially when you look at how Chris Butcher's race results turned out versus mine.

Special mention for Simon's first pole position... 0.01s!!!

What the hell was I doing on Pole????? Take that Ross McGregor!;)

As expected i bombed the first lap. Had to take some avoiding action then, felt like a pinball for a while there. Couldn't find space to get a clean lap to get my quali pace a whirl!

Race 2, was more pinball action and i came off worse for wear multiple times! Very frustrating. I think so many guys had different brake and turn in points. That felt like a boxing match at times, and i got beaten up bad! :D

Well anyway those races brought me back down to earth after that quali!

Well in Div. 2 I made a mess of it in the first race. Qualified 3rd, which I was happy with, but gave up a couple places within the first few turns. I had some contact with someone, I believe it was Rob Moore but not sure, between 3 and 4 when I got inside him but he didn't see and came across. Sorry mate, I tried to back out when I realized you didn't know I was there and started to move over, but I couldn't get out of the way in time.

But one that was entirely avoidable was when I got caught looking in my mirrors going into 3 on lap 2 and egregiously punted Paul Martin. Apologies again mate, no excuses for that one. It was even worse in replay because I wasn't really being threatened from behind, I don't know what I was looking at. Too bad because after having watched that replay we had a pretty good battle for the first lap and a half.

Race 2 was a bit of disaster as well, but at least not one of my causing this time! I was trying to just stay out of everyone's way after botching the first race, but as I came into turn 1 on lap 2 someone was sideways directly across the line with cars on either side and I t-boned him and launched into the air. Several other people were caught up in that as well, it was a nasty wreck. I'll attach a screenshot of my view entering turn 1 as it was pretty spooky, and another shot of eventual race winner Ernie Lehmann driving directly underneath the front of my car. My left front suspension was shot after that and I was 3 seconds off the pace, so I just cruised around and took advantage if anyone made a mistake or had to retire for a quiet 14th place I believe.

A super fun weekend but I wish my debut had been cleaner. Hopefully I have less nerves next week. Huge apologies again to Paul Martin, and good racing to everyone else!

Blah.
No practice time this week and it showed in my embarrassing quali efforts. Last :cautious: ..pathetic.
Surely didn't help that it's 9am here at the time of race start, and I woke up a bit late today, feeling about as grumpy as I've ever felt.

Race 1 I realize my brake is sticking slightly...been having some trouble with it falling out of calibration, so wasn't getting 100% either. Every corner was a journey into the unknown of whether or not the brakes would actually do anything. Every straight, trying to assure my brake wasn't sticking.
Ended up somewhere at the rear...NEXT!

Semi sorted the braking issue during warm up so I could quit worrying with that....it needs more work.
Race 2...well, I've got a shot at....at something. :cautious:
Stuck around the P6-10 positions, just trying to hold on to what I had. The downhill braking sections were killing me. Again, every corner was a journey into the unknown. Held on well enough for P10...it'll have to do this time as that's about as good as it was going to get today.

I'll echo others here....an event I'd rather just move on from and forget (though I know my brain won't let that happen and I'll probably be mulling it over as I try to sleep tonight :O_o: )

Hoping for better results next time around, but at least (I think) I'm still clinging on to Div I.
Feels like victory, tbh, after that :poop:

Grats to the guys up front.
@Bram Hengeveld ought to get some points for sacrificing himself to the cause :whistling:

I may have the weirdest Race 2 experience for today! P8 after 10 minutes, then the dog decides to choke on a toy as I'm approaching T1. Had to pull over (got a penalty for exceeding track limits!!!!!), clear the restriction in her throat, then set off again in last but one position and never managed to catch the group back up. Looked down after the race to see the dog sat there wagging it's tall as if nothing had happened!

is that me out the event?
Yes indeed it is. Our rules explicitly state until when you can report absence. That means not in the last 24 hours. There was an entire week to report it so we can update the starting grids in time. Now a driver was promoted to server 1 in the dying seconds which is far from ideal.
