Radeon RX6000

Waiting on third party testers for real world performance, and to see if their drivers won't cause any strangeness in R3E (my go to sim for the moment). If both checks out, then I can see myself getting a 6800XT in Sapphire flavors once they release their versions. Although the reference card wouldn't look out of place in my rig.

Actually, what is the status on that?

You can use videos, showing their last-gen cards (5700Xt) to compare with 2070 and 2070S
It seems, on some tiles they were not quite as fast in framerates but not far off in most neither.

In fairness, I think it's going to be close with these new cards, especially if some 3rd party cards offer slightly higher clocks.

The AMD 6000 series is exciting for reasons other than just cost.
Having said that, there are some important considerations to take into account.
Though I personally would not purchase the flagship 6900XT (because it isn't the segment I typically 'play' in price-wise), it is good for those that do relative to RTX3090.
You still need to consider a few things though.....
If you are on a 400 series board with a current 3000 series CPU, you'll need at least a $500 additional investment to (5000 CPU and 500 series MB) to gain all the bells and whistles.
That price means you're then approach RTX3090 territory but it also includes a new CPU and MB...so still better.
6900XT looks great from the standpoint of someone who...wants the absolute high-end and is simply now collecting parts to build a new PC.
The other, is if you are willing to sell your current gen pre-500/5000 parts to offset the cost of the new CPU and MB.
The RTX3090 is way overpriced for what it is compared to the RTX3080 performance.
In my mind, it only makes sense if you are a content creator...you need to 'feed' multiple high resolution monitors...or somebody else is paying for the card.
It'll be interesting to see the performance comparison (relative to an all AMD system) the RTX3090 paired with current gen AMD components will deliver.
The RTX3090 cost can only be justified against the 6900XT' if they are close without having to invest in a new CPU and MB to gain parity.

6900XT works great from the standpoint of somebody who has nothing at present...wants the absolute high-end and is simply collecting parts to build a new PC.

Some good points there. I think I'm going Team Red and may even buy a 6900XT. Interested to see what Powercolor come out with. Was planning on upgrading CPU and MB at a later date but I'm intrigued to see what I could sell my i7-8700K, ROG Strix Z370-F Gaming and 2080Ti for. If I can sell them for close to the value of a Zen 3 CPU and MBI'd consider a full switch sooner.

My last AMS was a HD 7870 still got it.
Change to a gtx 970 and it was a lot faster but the dx9 gmotor2 sims looked bad. It has gotten better but the Amd gpu still got a much better looking display on Gtr2 and AMS.
So if the drivers works I am thinking switching back to AMD GPU's.
If they preform in VR!
