I am also suspecting that numeral 9 could actually be a Greek / Cyrillic R (rho)!
Correct me if I'm wrong but the letter "rho" would be a mirrored "9" like this
And, no, this isn't my car but now I'm thinking about putting a #1000 on my own car

Neat to see the Eagle Talon version of the Diamond Star Motors triplets of which the AWD Mitsubishi Eclipse is best known and perhaps even forgotten by most--the Plymouth Laser RS Turbo. Inline 4-cylinder, 190HP / 5-speed. My mom owned the latter, and it's traction and oomph embarrased many a contempary V8 GM F-body.
