Racing Gloves???

I also use gloves. Kind of took that from using gloves when driving my sports car and ported that idea to simracing.

Reasons are: Better grip and control, preserve the leather/suede on the rim, reduce hand fatigue (ideally).

For simracing I currently use Sparco Meca 3. These are mechanics gloves, but work a treat for my purposes. A bit bulky for small button keyboards maybe.

I also have specialized Sparco Hyper Grip, which are a good choice if you need touch functionality. Overall I prefer the Meca3 though.

For anything like or above TSPC or CSW you May need gloves if you want your skin in place. Leather and stitching at hi rotating speed can do some abrasive damage.
With OSW and the like you need gloves to protect more, not only your skin but your fingers/hands could be damaged. GT3 steering wheels can be a rotating hammer sometimes.

Buuut, protection and feeling doesnt works very well so Ive taked some sortcuts and feeling over protection is my goto when buying gloves.
Minus Zero gloves are awesom for simracing, they are fresh, thin, grips like spiderman, precurved shapes, and are cool to wear. Like @RasmusP said, I cut thumbs fingertips to press buttons easily

I would only say dont use some cheap karting gloves that use hard leather and some abrasive material sown on for grip. You may damage the finish on your wheel and they wont be so comfortable.

As Kek says about some cycling gloves may do the trick. if you do need grip some of the better brand karting gloves have a really grippy but non abrasive finish, like the sparco karting ones. Something to move on to after the cheaper ones if you want more.
My new Sparco Karting gloves had printed silicon on them... my Alcantera BMW GT2 rim soon took most of that stuff off...
Also my wheel has seen so much use, that even with gloves on, it's still showing massive signs of wear. I've already had to re-sew though material back on a couple of times too...

Oh, and in answer to the OP; not only do I use them for protection of the wheel rim but also for my hands. Even with gloves I can get blisters and calluses after long races etc.
Plus it's an immersion thing too. Cant beat seeing your hands on the wheel when getting ready for a race.

+1 for the water shoes! My HE ultimates are reasonably easy on the feet, so I can use them with socks but after a while my heels will get sore on the aluminium plate so the water shoes are great for this but nice thin soles so you still feel the pedals well

Was thinking about some kind of shoes as I just use my slippers now.
Socks or bare feet are a no, because my Fanatec feel too uncomfortable.
Do the water shoes have a decent sole?

the ones I have are using a thin sole, you certainly dont feel the pressure on your feet or the edges of the pedals etc like you do with socks. I think the water shoes are supposed to be closer to not wearing shoes but having protection. the back goes jsut far enough around the back of my heel to stop it getting sore after a while.

For the price its worth trying.

I got some Puma driving shoes which I really like. They aren't hot and are really comfortable. They have two elastic velcro fasteners and go on easy.

The Sparco Gaming gloves are well ventilated and work well, but I don't know how long they'll last and at $50 a pop, they aren't cheap.

Well... went to "go outdoors" yesterday and got a really cheap pair of riding gloves, got home and then remembered, when I was a Marshall at Silverstone (many years ago). I was given a pair of AWS racing gloves, by one of the BTCC boys, cant remember who but think it was Andy Rouse. you old boy's will remember him lol. but could have been Steve Soper.
Anyway did a search and found them!! so the riding gloves have been ditched
