Sector3 Studios Georg Ortner has released an interesting new video of the WTCC 2016 pack for RaceRoom, prompting rumours that the cars could release as early as this week...

In his sizeable nine minute video, Sector3 Studios own Georg Ortner takes the 2016 specification Volvo Polestar S60 TC1 touring car around the Nürburgring-Nordschleife 24h layout in RaceRoom Racing Experience, battling out on track with the cars that will form the WTCC 2016 pack soon to be released for the sim.

The video and preview image attached to the top of this article have all been posted by Sector3 staff in recent days, along with the cryptic message on Facebook that read "The FIA WTCC Season starts next weekend, and we have something special planned for you guys. Stay tuned! #verysoon" leaving fans to speculate that the new cars might not be very far away from a release. Adding fuel to the fire, J-F Chardon joined in the banter with fans on the forum joking that we might see these cars as soon as Wednesday... but was it a joke?

Without doubt the previous 2013, 14 and 15 WTCC class of cars in RaceRoom have proven to be immensely popular amongst players, and the latest breed of World Touring Car machines are likely to follow suit when they release. With Honda, Lada, Chevrolet and Citroen all making a return for the 2016 pack, probably one of the biggest highlights to be included will be the stunningly attractive Volvo S60 of Polestar racing fame. Marking the first time Volvo have committed to a full season works effort in modern WTCC regulations, the quirky Swedish brand have somewhat of a cult fan following in touring car racing and it is likely that will continue in the virtual version of the championship.

Despite the real life WTCC falling from grace a little compared to the series heyday, the cars are still a blast to drive and provide some brilliantly close online racing. Should be a fun time..

Yeah, these cars are quite a handful arent they. Tough to come to grips with because lift off oversteer and snap oversteer is actually a thing again in these FWD touring cars.

First things first, increase the brake bias a fair bit. I use around 65%. Next, almost never fully apply the brakes with zero throttle input, even in a straight line. These cars almost demand that you apply a bit of throttle while braking to maintain stability.

As for setup stuff. Using positive toe on the front helps some. Also going positive on the rear can help with stability. I would use more positive toe on the front wheels than rears though. You can play around with the springs too. Perhaps going a bit softer on the rear. Lowering ride height on the rear a touch. Lowering rear ARB a click. Lowering brake pressure can also help if you still find yourself struggling on certain corners in some tracks. Mantorp and Slovakia have some awkward corners that require braking when you arent in a straight line and this can be quite difficult.

As for other tips. Just spending time with the cars and getting used to their unique characteristics will certainly help. :)

The WTCC cars have always been my favourite go to cars in any race sim and RRE has always represented these cars well in my opinion.
I have been spending a little time with WTCC 16 cars and by god they feel different to the previous years. But in a good way. I have been doing some testing at Portimao (my favourite track in RRE) and the Honda is a real handful and the setup needs tweaking for stability. The Volvo seems more stable to me. I use 70/30 brake bias and that seems to help as well as lowering ride height and putting negative toe in 0.09 in the front wheels. But each of us is different, so trial and error and practice is the order of the day with these cars.
Really do enjoy them but the AI is woeful at the moment and act as if you are not there at all and try and drive right through you. Sector 3, please please put some work into the AI one day.
