Sector3 Studios have made available addictive little 60's monster the NSU Prinz TTS to purchase for their RaceRoom Racing Experience title.

Adding some much needed additional historic content to the game, the 120 Hp NSU comes with a selection of attractive paint schemes and is available for 249 vRP.

With engaging driving characteristics yet low powered enough to be fun to drive this little gem is sure to be a popular addition to R3E.

It's difficult to argue with the points made, and it seems to be the case with most games nowadays. That's why GTR2, GTL and Race07 sit on my hard drive along with all the modern ones. Still get great pleasure from them whenever I fire them up.
I sometimes think that people can't see beyond the graphics and miss the depth of gameplay in the older titles, maybe it's an old guys thing and the fact that a lot of us came from games like Revs and Pole Position, Night Driver etc so have a greater appreciation of just what an advance F1C onto rF1 et al was.

I too remember the older titles that seemed to offer more than the "next Gen" titles today, the older games had something that is missing in modern titles, just can't put my finger on it.

Not sure what to make of the NSU, would of preferred it if there were some serious feature upgrades to RRE than another content release, but they need to pay the bills I guess. Still, this little addition to RRE will no doubt create some tight racing and much fun for the many who are willing to throw money at RRE, myself included.

This may be an old Vid, but its a good starting point. It definitely made car feedback - FEEDBACK, but this may depend on your hardware?. I am using a Clubsport V2 Base unit and Pedals and these settings definitely made the game BETTER !

IMHO this steering rack force is very essential to get more life in the FFB especially when accelerating out of a corner and everybody set this to 0%. Why?

And it´s so poor that shifting with H-shifter is so much slower than with paddles. Even this NSU is shifting like a GT3-car with paddle-shifter. It´s ridiculous and doing a miss-shift with H-shifter even forces you to do go back to neutral and shift again instead of just pushing the clutch a second time like in AC and pCars, where you have a shift-time and handling advantage when driving H-shifting cars proper.

And for me Raceroom seems way more grippy and easy to drive now than half a year ago, especially the GT3- and DTM-classes. Should be on top of S3S To-Do-list to implement at least different grip-conditions like in AC and a shift-time-penalty when not shifting proper.
 
Sadly you're most likely correct there @Kenny Paton. I don't think it's any coincidence that the two most popular 'current' sims on the PC - pCARS and AC - are also (arguably) the two best looking sims. I sure as hell don't believe either of these games represent the best options for quality and depth of simulation.

Pcars popular? :laugh: I don't think so.

But Kenny is right. The older sims had everything going for them with GTR 2 probably at the top of the tree followed by Nascar Racing 2003.

Regarding old school vs new school and depth, I believe it largely comes down to the simple ability to (or expectation of the ability to) buy immersion. This is clear as many people are honest about and unaplogetically (not that thay should be apologetic) take a casual approach to sim racing. This is a completely different type of people than those interested in Indianpolis 500, for example.

As a ex-casual sim racer myself, I can say that combo binge-ing afforded by thousands of mods in rFactor 1 was hard to resist ; even with far superior arcade/simcade options available at the time from a purely casual perspective. Surely other casual "sim racers" were brought into the genre the same way. This may have been the beginning of the end of sim racing as we knew it.

As it happens, I was driving rF2 when I decided to commit to developing skills, knowledge and experience and it was only after I later returned to rF1, GTR2 and NKP that I realized how deep they really were physics-wise.

At the moment, GTR2 has no competition WRT a complete (meaning done / finished / stable), feature-rich and high-quality road racing sim for hard-core sim racers.

New sims are all lacking in quality, missing key areas of functionality, are unfinished or all of the above.
 
David. I remember those days of GP1 etc as I've been a sim enthusiast since the early 90's. I also remember Revs on the CBM 64 and Stunt car racer on the Amiga.......if you want to go back that far :p


Yes younguns, this was bleeding edge at one time :)

I fully understand that it has no impact on sales but a package that covers all bases is surely going to be a hit with sim racing leagues and thus, the longevity of the product?

Commodore C64, how much i have played "Hawkeye" on this thing..., memories. :cool:

Oh man!! My simrig is down at the moment but will have it back up an running by next weekend. And this little car is the first thing I'm getting as soon as I get fired back up! I love the little Escort in AC , and this little NSU looks to be a blast to drive! Can't wait!

Well where ever RRRE was when I started, this setup worked for me and my kit, the FEEDBACK !!! is much better. Not sure what kit you are running, but I usually stay away from Paddle shifters :confused:

Break your excitement. The Escort in AC is by very far the better car and much more power as well. They've nothing in common.

Whatever you like, but using H-shifter means loosing online-races. H-shifter are ridiculous slow and troublefull in Raceroom. And increasing the steering rack force one time to about 25% for beginners will not hurt. I was a huge R3E fan till one update set this force to 0% and I hated R3E after that without knowing the reason. The feeling came back with pCars and with the latest physics updates I feel similar forces in AC so don't need Raceroom anymore. But now I know that this force is the reason why.
