great great fun... joined for race 2 and put the power down in the pink mobile. profited from some incidents and took car from 13 to 6 (although was technically last car running)

then to brands, still really getting used to car. again going to start near the back but made some last minute changes before grid in an effort to get rid of the understeer in high speed corners... well.... didn't work. went backwards and after getting puncture on front left went around last few laps just cos these cars are fun to drive (even if your set up is not so hot!)

congrats to ben... i think he'll need a bigger mantle piece from Santa for all the winners trophies!

Goldenport: Started low down and got carelessly spun in t1 which I didn't get an apology for. Carried and and fought with a few people before I went straight on somewhere and decided to pack it in.

Monza Junior: Got an ok start and managed to take t1 without getting hit which lasted until the main straight. :p Anyway Matt apologised so I didn't care at all and went straight on at t1 a few laps later and packed it in again.

Brands Indy: Got a decent start and took a few places into t1, was in front of Andrew for a while until at the 2nd last corner, put a wheel on the grass and braked (fail).
Then for at least 10 laps and a awesome battle with Manuel Garcia which was very clean and fair on both parts (i hope), side by side a few times and could of passed him before t1 on the very last lap to get 8th. Never battled like that before for a position. :)

Thanks for great mod choice Andrew and please please please do these again. :D

OK, now I have time to write something about the first 2 races:
1. Goldenport: Started from 3rd, Karl hit me in 1st corner and I turned over, but no problem as I had a nice race after and finished 4th!
2. Monza Junior: Started from 3rd again but with less gap, had a great start, took 2nd in the 1st corner. Then on the 2nd lap in the 1st corner someone pushed me into the wall. I tried to continue but my car was heavily damaged and it was totally uncontrollable so I had to retire...

I hope at Brands Hatch Indy I'll have more luck.

1. I messed up my start, the car shot sideways and unfortunately I hit you. My bad...

2. Haven't looked at the replay yet, but as I can remember it you and I were alongside each other at the turn in point. I braked a little bit earlier as to give us both some room, don't think that you saw me as you turned in to my left side. Then I think some one else came by and gave us a little push from behind, but I'm not totally sure about that last part... any way. I'm sorry if I caused you to run out of tarmac.:shame:

The first race didn't go so well as I retired on the first lap due to broken suspension and due to a *ss behind the wheel of my car...

Second race at Monza was a cracker. Had some great racing trying to catch Ben and Nigel. The two of them were quick as h*ll! I did everything I could to stay on their tails but ... damn they were fast!

Third race was also a good one. I had some really intense fighting with Terry. I think I stressed him a lot because he was ducking and weaving like mad :) The fight progressed for several laps until I lost control of my car and ended up in the gravel pit... bummer :doh2: Later on in the race I caught up to Victor. There were some excellent fighting between the two of us as well. on the second to the last lap Victor opened up the door for me so I could sneak by him on the inside. I hope we didn't touch Victor? Good fun!

All in all, a very good event! I had a blast in the Escort, like to see some more racing on short tracks! Thank you Andrew for organizing the event!
:music2:
Kind regards,
Karl

I don't know what lap it was, when Nigel tried to pass me, then I stayed inside for the next corner and we collided, that was the situation when I said "leaving pits":D

lol np m8, i saw somthing in the chat but couldn`t take my eyes of the road to read it. the battle we was having was great fun i was glued to your bumper for quite a few laps.

absolutly fantasic cars, grin factor of 110% i think.

will do a longer report when my heads stopped spinng.

really looking forward to the next Escort races :highfive:

2. Haven't looked at the replay yet, but as I can remember it you and I were alongside each other at the turn in point. I braked a little bit earlier as to give us both some room, don't think that you saw me as you turned in to my left side. Now I know more as I watched the replay. No it wasn't you definitely, I saw Ben and you coming so I was careful out there! The one who hit me was Andrew. He came like a rocket, tried to avoid me but hit my rear left end, and then I spun into your left side! But really no problem, I had fun all night!

I love Escorts

These Escorts are great to drive , my second favorites to the Extremes.
I hadn't driven the Goldenport track until today , so I got in the way a bit , my braking points were a surprise to some other drivers , Sorry.
But managed to finish in 6th.
A bit better at Monza Junior qualified 4th, made a mistake in the race and damaged the car but finished 4th.
Brands Hatch , Qualified 4th Finished 3rd
Again had an incident early in the race with a car coming back on track ,which damaged the steering
but it didn't seem too bad ,but because of this I lost touch with Nigel.
All in all all a great meeting which I really enjoyed.
Thanks to everybody who competed.
Gongrats to Ben
And thanks to Andrew Evans for setting it up.

worst night of racing yet in an RD event:pissed-off:

Goldenport qualified in 7th in think, got a gr8 start and due to mistakes was in 2nd place before lap 2, was doing fine tho ben was tearing away from me, then comp crashed ggrrr.

Monza Junior. Very poor qualifying, hard to get a decent lap in esp when ppl are doing donuts at the end of the main straight!!. Again got a good start and made up 3-4 places when i was hit from behind. Sorry i just dont get it, it was before the 1st corner and before i even started braking, no apology either. This put out me on the grass and mess up braking for t1. Then got a minidump ggrr.due to the minidump replay file didnt save so i dont know who hit me.

Brands hatch Indy - had trouble finding the servers so only got 3 mins of practice in. Once again a good start from 12, made up some places again and was hit coming upto druids. At least i got an apology from Keith this time, thx :beer:car was very badly damaged, but drove on anyway and finished the race

  • Andrew Dawes

My test session (hotlap) with all the cars a few days ago resulted in a consistent best of 2:06.1 in Mosler, Marcos and spyker. Just checked Sunred was a 2.07.1 but was the first car i chose so that might explain why i didn't record a good time.

I hated the corvette though. 2.07.5 and i didn't think i was going any faster.
After 4 attempts i couldn't post a lap in the BMW so gave up on it (sadly).

The clincher was a 2.05.1 i did in the spyker but a consistent 2.06-2.07 is more my level.

These are all standard setups in hotlapping...and trying to learn the track as i didn't know it.
