Camaro 8:14.938 (very cautious) after staying up all night to watch the Venus transit of the Sun on NASA TV (it was cloudy sunrise her in the UK) and also after spinning just before the level crossing then driving the wrong way in error!.

This was my 5th ever competitive complete lap of Machwerk but I have done lots of mileage on this circuit. This was my first retro max lap though and I need more practice and setup. I had almost maximum ride height because I know it is bumpy and undulating. I suspension and anti-roll bar almost maximum soft so there was no snap oversteer. I will try again tomorrow with a lower and stiffer car but this depends on my computer which is freezing up every now and again.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
EDIT: Please do not include this time. Watched the replay and two rail rides and about three big track cuts.

I hopped on earlier and did my first two complete laps in the Vette before running off to prep the vid.(the other day I tried this car I was constantly crashing it, but very little crashing today!) :)
I am still not very familiar with this car, still driving like **** in general, and the track is not quite memorized yet.. but I am getting better. Got a long way to go if I wanna make up even 20 seconds to get closer to you guys.

Great track though! Kicks yer arse, but it is certainly fun. :thumbsup:

Vid is 720p, so you can see my terrible driving in HD*! Live too, none of this replay faff.
And do not mind the missing steering wheel, just trying it out.
*(Except the encoder settings. got a little too aggressive there. future vids will look better)

Sign me up please - I have read and understand the rules and will not be cutting turn 1

Dave do you mean cutting over the white line pit exit to carry momentum round the first corrner. I also agree with this if it's what you mean but in my opinon most of the events I have run at this track I have found there will always be someone cutting it and once seen by others the line seems to turn magnetic.

The funny thing is you don't need to go wide at the first corrner to run a quick laptime.

I managed 8:13 in my very first lap. :confused: Honestly, I wasn't even sure I could finish the lap. Some tricky places there, and the BMW was very unstable under hard braking. I nearly lost it a couple of times.

I have a replay, going to upload it later. It is not onboard, but using TV cameras because it looks better. I will post a proper onboard once I do some more laps. :)

What two great races yesterday! :D

I have never raced with the BMW M3 GT2 in this track, but I know Nordschleife very well, so after two or three practice laps I already knew how much the car could take. Changed a few things in the setup and there I was, ready to start.

R1 was super intense, Stepan was in front of me the entire time and I was trying to overtake him, but it is almost impossible in this track. I was faster during the straights / fast zones, but he would go away after the Karusell. I had to lift up or even brake when I got too close to him, which happened a few times, since the gap was usually 1 second. I only managed to really catch him once, during the main straight, but I didn't have enough time to overtake him. Unfortunately on lap 3 I did a mistake and Stepan went away. Second place.

R2 was pay back time! :D I managed to get in front of Stepan and even though he was faster than me in some sections, he couldn't overtake me. During the main straight I was faster, so the gap got bigger there. After driving on the edge 2 entire laps, I relaxed a bit on the third one. Stepan got really close, but then he lost control when exiting a corner. I waited but he took a long time to get back, so I finished 1st. Not the finale I was waiting for, but still, two amazing races, thanks Stepan and all who showed up!:thumbsup:

Best time: 7:00:2xx with this car. A little bit more and I would have done less than 7 minutes!
