Race report:
HAd done some testing here to get the car sorted since I Had not driven this model since one of my very first RD events ever.
I had tested both and decided that the Ferrari was more suitable here.
Q; I had put a lighter load of fuel in the car and drove somewhat conservatively to a 13.9 and it gets me 4th on the time sheet.
Race 1. I a,m behind Stefan with Keith and Jarrod to my left. The lights go off and I jump it and close on Stefan and Keith very quickly. I have to back off and leave room for the upcoming T2 whilst Tyler is breathing on me from the right. I am watching the mirror and ahead simultaneously to defend and conquor if any opportunities presents itself.
Tyler is very close and I look up to see Keith side by side in T2 and rapidly approaching. ITs almost surreal as it looks like they are "lag warping" and I plow straight into both of them! WOW what happened here I think? Tyler f goes off on the right and PEter Ross is agro as well. Oh man a big moment to open lap 1! I continue on behind Jeith and Jarrod hoping there is no further carnage. once we get straightened out we get sort what happened over TEamspeak. Sorry about the off Stefan its a bad spot to hit and worse to try and wait........
So I soldier on and pass JArrod and the fight with Keith begins.
We had another great battle for a full 23 minutes! Never seperated by more than 1.1 seconds and literally bumper to bumper or door to door frequently in the first 10 mins. I eventually go off exiting the esses to the short chute and thats it for me tryinfg to win. Well done Keith and very fun race as usual.
Really sorry to you guys about the first turn incident. Just was not expecting Keith and Stefan t o be locked up door t o door there and slower than usual. Watching Tyler and watching ahead was more than I could handle I guess........
R2 Starting deeper at P7 this time. I geta good start but Keith is a bit quicker rthis time and outyside of me. We f go 3 wide thru T1 with John a inside int he P car. I don;t see Keith while the race actually is running but he gets very close to the wall! Sorry Keith I was trying to give John room to drift. MEanwhile PEter goes off and I pass Mike Chaney. I am now P4 wih Tyler, JArrod and Stefan ahead. As usual, KEith lurking in 5th.
We run drafting very tightly to T9. Stefan ducks inside JArrod before the Kink and I follow his line. Sefan is clear in T9 while I am still behind. I pull a crossover move in the banking but it doesn't quite work. I chase Jarrod thru the esses and pass him at the exit when he goes off track chasing the rear under braking.
So now is lap 2 and I am gapped to Stefan and Kith is not far behind. We run out the laps with Keith passisng me on lap 6. I chase Stefanand we fight hard but I go off with 2 laps remaining again! I am P4 and stay there to the end.
Congrats to Keith and Tyler for the wins! Stefan ofr a pair of 3's! and anyone else who raced this event, thanks for showing up!
If your thinking about the GTS event at ASCARI, you beter get your laps in as its not a "show up and run" track........
