RaceRoom Hotfix Released 3.jpg

RaceRoom Racing Experience has been hotfix updated today, however a multiplayer issue regarding the double race format remains and is being investigated by Sector3 Studios.

Following on from the June update released just yesterday, Sector3 Studios have been forced to deploy another minor update to the game in an effort to reduce the extended loading times for the game introduced as part of the most recent build.

The new hotfix does appear to have rectified this issue, however Sector3 have advised that a problem regarding players finding themselves unable to continue into a second consecutive online multiplayer race in certain circumstances remains, and is being actively looked at by the developers.

The issue, applicable only to multi race online play, occurs when a player leaves a race session before the second event has begun. In this circumstance the remaining drivers can be presented with a blank screen and server admins forced to restart the event under a fresh server load.

As the problem is still ongoing Sector3 have advised server admins to avoid the use of multi race formats for the time being.

Hotfix (30.6.17) Update Notes
  • Fixed issue with long loading times.
  • Known issue: If a player leaves in race 1, other players will end up in black screen after session switch into race 2. We are investigating the problem but in the meantime we suggest you avoid multi format races if possible.

RaceRoom Racing Experience is a free to play simulation exclusive to PC with additional content available to purchase via the in game RaceRoom Store.

However, I look forward to GTR3 and the changes this will eventually bring to R3E if what Chris and Allen Speed said in the interview with Paul turns out to be true.....

but I haven't noticed the core game as far as physics getting improved since I was introduced and would have liked to see improvements such as offline mode, triple monitor support, tyre model, etc. However, they manage to implement VR as it would attract more content buyers along with cars and tracks, but seem to break most everything else lol. Why did they mess with the AI? It was right behind RF2 in the beginning. Now it's something different entirely.

Try the GTR-X cars, then try the GTR3 or DTM cars and get back to me.

A fair bit of what you are saying here is just wrong. Not subjectively wrong either. There were improvements to the tire model... Summer 2015 saw massive steps forward and got rid of the 'floaty' feeling cars had previously. Data from KW suspensions was used along with data from a plethora of real drivers from different series. Real drivers in the ADAC, DTM, WTCC, TT cup, TT RS, and perhaps others I am forgetting all provided feedback and data for the devs.

About the AI... Well, those are objectively better now too in most respects. They try to slipstream behind you, make mistakes related to stress and how much pressure you apply to them, and defend going into corners now when they previously didnt.

Feature wise, you have drivetrain elasticity, VR, physics improvements, AI improvements, UI improvements, tons of bug fixes, the ability for more race options including custom championships, store improvements including packs that are a much better deal than before, and many other things that would take too long to list.

I suggest you go here and read through the changelog dating back to 2015 if you really believe nothing has been improved.

I understand that opinions are subjective, but no Ross...Just no.

I like that R3E is pure with no modding. Just saying "no" isn't going to change that, nor does it explain to anyone why your opinion differs. A discussion it does not make. If I want mods I'll reinstall Assetto Corsa or Automobilista, two great sims with a wealth of modded content. If I want simplicity without wasting my time on rubbish mods that are broken or unfinished, I'll stick with R3E. Given that my number one use for racing sims is to race real people in RD's clubs, I don't have much use for mods anyway.

Everyone who thinks R3E is better than Pcars should check it out.

Already have, and in my personal opinion PCars doesn't hold a candle to R3E... or any of the other two sims I mentioned above. Very glad I got it dirt cheap in a sale as it was uninstalled after just seven hours played. A couple of cars were fun, but most felt totally arcade and like I should be driving in chase view with a controller rather than a wheel. But I suppose we all have our own opinions on what is "real".

All that aside, as a premium member why not try the R3E racing club? Bet you'd enjoy our races regardless of your overall opinion of the sim itself. ;)

I was just breakin ur balls a bit........It's a racing game in which you can jump in and drive when it works...I just can't understand the loyalty that some have for this title, the development has been terrible compared to AMS and AC imo. Whenever I and a couple of peeps try and race online it gave us a server error or crashed etc. also, I paid a lot of money for content and I just don't see the value like some of you do. The R3E fanboy army has been successful once again, and I officially wave a white flag and surrender.
In my last act of defiance, I will just say I think the development and the way they handled this game since I was introduced has been awful.

I hear ya natedogg....But this is part of the reason in which I don't understand..AC managed to update the tyre model for ALL their cars, and AC didn't cost me near as much.

I'll pass.
I've also surrendered lol.:D

I enjoy discussions in which people have different points of view as they can be very informative. But to label us all as "fanboys" for not agreeing with your opinion of R3E is a bit immature to be honest.

If you take the time to look through the forum you will clearly see that while we enjoy R3E, most of the people posting here are just as critical as anyone else when S3 do a bad job of something. We don't blindly defend their every move and deny all issues with the sim, as your fanboy tag would suggest. We just choose to support and enjoy the sim rather than sit around moaning about it.

Since Ross took the diplomatic approach, I will take the 'less than diplomatic' approach.

Labeling people that have views that differ from your own as fanboys is pathetic. You should be ashamed of yourself for stooping to that level. You immediately shut down all conversation and dialogue when you resort to that sort of namecalling as you are saying, "I have my views that are unchanging, and I will not listen to you."

I am not defending the game, nor was anything I said, "speaking as a fanboy." Some of the things you said were factually wrong, and I refuted them. If you still choose to believe nothing has happened or been improved in the last 2 yrs even when provided evidence to the contrary, you are free to do so. Ya know, the flat earth society is always looking for new members... ;)

Now, you see how my last sentence full of worthless hyperbole does nothing more than create animosity and shut down all conversation? I would hope so.

Be better than that man.

Cheers

I'd like to see the "Slow Down Penalty" removed, COMPLETELY. Not a SINGLE REAL racing series has a slow down penalty whereby the car is automatically slowed down. That would be disastrous if it happens in the wrong place, at the wrong time and cause accidents, injuries, or death. Since this is a Racing Simulation that is supposed to be based on reality, remove the Slow Down Penalty. A drive through penalty is plenty good enough. Take out the Slow Down Penalty and add a "Drive through" or "Timed Pit Stop Penalty" for intentional wrecking. Make that mandatory, not an option that could be switched off, by half wits. THAT would cut down on intentional wrecking, in this game on public servers and give admins on private servers a way to enforce Gentleman Driver rules.

I'd like to see the "Slow Down Penalty" removed, COMPLETELY...

The current slow-down penalty is an option for cutting the track. It's a useful tool for events like our club races, as it penalises people for cutting without ruining their whole race by making them drive through the pits. This way they learn quickly while remaining in the mix, instead of being forced to the back 30 seconds behind with no chance of catching up. That would usually result in them quitting altogether which is good for nobody. There are already options to change the slow-down into a drive-through or stop-and-go, and that has it's place... leagues and such. But it's too harsh for club racing. The slow-downs don't cause many dangerous issues either, since the driver being penalised is fully informed, the penalty is delayed until the next time they slow their car down, and their car remains ghosted throughout.

As for wreckers, there's already a protection feature which helps deal with the worst of those by ghosting their cars in certain situations. Beyond that there's little you can do, since a game cannot "decide" when someone intentionally or accidentally hits another driver off the track, and penalising everyone for any contact whatsoever would be ridiculous.

The thing is, what you're talking about is people that are over-aggressive and force people out of their way. There's not much the devs can do about that because it's down to driver mentality. However, there is something you can do about it. You can join a community like RaceDepartment, which provides organised racing backed up by guidelines and rules which weed out and eliminate the public server mentality. Problem solved.

Fair enough. I guess we then also need to point out there's no real life racing series featuring the option of turning on big floating driver names above the cars, nor a racing series where two cars can occupy the same pit stall at the same time (amongst other things) ;)

Just FYI in the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship team mates occupy the same Pit Stall and a Safety Car period often leads to what's called "Double Stacking", where the first car gets priority to Pit and the 2nd car simply sits behind and "waits" his or her turn, so technically yes it does happen in a Real Life racing series ;)

Sure, that happens in just about any series that has teams. F1 has that happen when the engineers screw up the strategy. Nurburgring 24 hrs has that because.... 100+ entrants. Almost any endurance event with lots of cars. Etc.

That however, is a hell of a lot different than how it is in game :p
