Slightly Mad Studios have confirmed that their upcoming Project CARS 3 racing title will release on Xbox One, PS4 and PC from this August 28th - with an enviable number of cars set to form part of the default game offering.

The proposed change in direction for the third instalment of the Project CARS franchise has certainly split opinion within the sim racing community, with some disappointed about the apparent move to a more inclusive gaming experience, whilst others and intrigued to see what SMS have in store when the game finally hits the virtual shelves later this year.

Rather than confirming a massive amount of information about the title from the off, Slightly Mad Studios have rather taken a steady approach of dripping information out to the public via social media in recent weeks - and the latest bit of information we've had concerns release date - beginning this August 28th!

Furthermore, the new title is expected to come with a bumper amount of content at launch, upping the ante from the last release within the franchise as over 200 upgradeable road and race machines will be playable on 140 different circuit configurations - not bad at all!

Project CARS 3 is set to release on Xbox One, PS4 and PC August 28th 2020.

I'm defintely waiting for reviews and opinions (of people I trust) before I think of getting this. Still need more info about the sim side of things. Everything from marketting seems to be aimed and console/NOS heads/Millenials......I'm expecting "dub step" or "Grime" music in the intro :(

Despite all the hate being expressed....i think those haters are super excited about this. Secretly. VERY secretly. Shhhh.....

Of course after the release they will come in here to say how BAD it is, and after some time, when Reiza makes AMS3 based on PC3 they will say "PC3 was a good simulator, batter than ACC".

If they haven't dumbed down the handling too much this could be perfect. I've been waiting a long time for a more realistic driving game that feels more like an actual video game and less like Microsoft Flight Simulator with cars. This could be the fun title of the year if SMS gets it right.

You would looooove Driveclub

i was looking forward to a good racing game, but got NFS Shift instead.....hoping GTR3 will offer much more.....current games r nothing but money milking machine not much worse than f2p mobile games....

I'm more and more skeptical of games that include massive amounts of cars and tracks at launch, like this upcoming PC3. Nowadays, it takes so much work to do a good simulation that I wonder how they can really do a good job on 200 cars and 140 track layouts without cutting corners. I much prefer the ACC approach: fewer cars and fewer tracks, but it's done right.

I guess, as Polyphony is doing with the GT serie, they use the old 3D models from PC1 & 2, and polishing it to make it up to the 2020 standards...
As I said, it's just a guess !

But realistically, you are right, they can't creat 100% of the announced content in that little time !

Little question for everybody...
In the Sims you all play, how many cars are you regularly using compared to how much there is in the game ?

I'm asking that mostly because I read a lot of people talking about the importance of how much cars and tracks PC3 will offer.

For instance : In any Gran Turismo, (even when finishing it near 100%), I don't think I drove more than 15-20% of the cars, and cars I regularly drive represents less than 5%...

I'm curious to know how you guys are estimating the % of cars you really drive...

Cheers ✌️

I drove at leaast 1 car in each class in most sims i have, and i really enjoy the possibility to read or watch something about a car and then being able to test it, so i'm all for having as many cars as possible even if i won't use them all.

How about releasing some useful info to the community....like in-game features/options, single player modes, details of what is customizable, mp, types of cars, dirt content, any new tech, VR improvements ? Etc. Etc.

One thing I am curious about....SMS was always partners with Nvidia in there past few titles, now that they have joined codemaster will it switch to AMD?

As an AC and ACC guy, I can honestly say that I put the time in to get Pcars 2 FFB settings how I liked them, and while not all cars are good, there are plenty that I thoroughly enjoy. I'm not the type to poo poo anybody's game of choice. Pcars 2 for me is more of a sim that I just play with and relax while AC and ACC are the ones I put the time in and compete with. There's plenty of room for everyone.

I will say that Pcars 2, for me, was what Pcars was supposed to be. Let's hope this time they truly bring it and we have something special.

Cheers

I just wanna thank the PCars 3 studio from the bottom of my heart.
This last year I purchased so many games during Steam's Summer Sale that I have trouble keeping up with my backlog.
Now that I've removed this from my upcoming purchase list, it makes it easier for me to catch up on other titles.

For all the simulation gear I have invested money on, I still have a blast playing such games as Driveclub Forza7 wreckfest and Gtsport on the couch.

Its not like there is lack of choice in the hardcore simulation market for me crucify Pcars3 for switching scope.

Besides, when asked to pick the best of each simulator to make the perfect game, I never chose pcars physics, online, sound etc. From pcars I picked its VR, and that feature lives in Automobilista 2. So, I really didn't lose a thing by pcars3 switching to casual gameplay. I might actually won something.
