PC Upgrading Discussion

@ Knut - nah, it just blew and wouldn't restart. everything else was unharmed

@ Simon - it was a Corsair..it was like $100 at the time (about 2 years ago). thing about it was it only had 2 12v rails and they were just a tad under the recommended amps, so i was playing with fire anyway. my new one is only 630W but it has 4 rails at 80 amps...which is plenty for my setup.

OK. Thats good to hear I won't ruin the whole thing. I checked the specs:http://www.corsairmicro.com/products/vx/default.aspx
It says a single 12V power rail. Is that something to be worried about? They say the 620W is triple power rail.

I'm pretty sure I'll go with 550W though. Since the website probably sold several of these kits I assume it's good enough.

Nowadays that's unheard of. On the website it states it's mainly for home theater PCs and energy star PCs. I found some more specs on another site that state that rail is rated for 41amps. For reference, my graphics card alone demands 36amps. You can give it a try, it may very well work just fine.

Alright:)

I think maybe I should suspend my driving until I get my new computer. Using the temperature monitor posted on RD the M1330 which I use just said the GPU is at 108 degree C. I can boil water with that! That can't be good.

Searched the web and found out it has a special cooling problem for the GPU:)

yeah mate, those XPS laptops are notorious for overheating. no time to suspend driving, build now!

Why not get yourself a little laptop cooler. I have one for my laptop (not for gaming) and it really cools it well.

in a month price new GIGABYTE and CPU i7 extreme ;)

All looks very nice .... just curious though, why include the hard drive performance chart?
It doesn't seem to show much of a performance difference between them all TBH, and the q6600 on an MSI mobo is actually quicker (and I am guessing here but cheaper too??) ... or am I missing something here? :wink2:

The first was new Computer 1997 year :D:D
MB Gigabyte
video car Gigabyte
CPU maybe PIII 800 mhz :D:D
