New sim PC, opinion needed.

So you think that I should just go the "easy" way and use the enclosure with the 2 fans pre-wired as they come, and not bother to switch them directly on the motherboard fan system pins and have the motherboard making the regulation automatically for me.
(Of course I will put the cpu fan on the motherboard)

On the be quiet pure base 600, there is two fans (140mm at the entrance and 120mm at the output) and a switch with three position.
I can open the enclosure from above too.
5V/7V/12V (maximum speed).

I am going to try at first as you say.

Personally I only use fans directly plugged into the motherboard. I then use speedfan which sadly won't work with win 10 or modern motherboards but I guess the tools you mentioned will do the same.

My case gets very hot, really bad high-load case...
Got 2 fans sucking air in, one exhaust fan.
The 3 case fans got one fan curve, the cpu ran a different one.

I have 3 steps in these curves:
- idle: lowest level before they come to stand still. Not detectable by ear.
- gaming: low noise level, gpu kept below 80, cpu below 75 degrees C.
- full load/emergency: everything maxed out if gpu goes above 85 or cpu above 75 degrees.

Impotant for this is a "hysteresis" at 7-15 degrees so a peak activates the next step but it can drop quite a bit while staying at it.

Constantly changing noise is a lot more annoying than constant higher noise!
Flipping a switch everytime you start playing.. Hell no too.

Steps for case fans (be quiet silent wings 2) are 30, 65 and 100%, cpu fan 0 (doesn't stop), 80 and 100% (different noise levels than the be quiets).

I'm really happy with this!

A little detail: lots of motherboards need to be in a special fan mode in the bios so windows tools have access to change levels. For me they need to be fixed at a certain level. For other mobos it's "automatic" etc

In the Gigabyte UEFI it seems to be pretty straightforward to manage the fans connected to the motherboard, but I am a little "afraid" that it will be not so "easy" to use.

I just asked because (as we can see here ) there is different opinion on that, and because my enclosure is delivered with a switch on the front to manage three steps.
I suppose that I can change this later to one or the other option without any problem.

I personally don't care a lot about the noise for this simracing pc, because I will play with an hearphone, and I suppose that the fans will be very often at full speed (?).
Plus I have read that the pure base 600 is pretty quiet , even with the fans at full speed.

I have a dilemna on the pro and contra

In the end just do what feels better at the moment! My fans don't go above the gaming step in my really hot case so I guess you might be fine with then at 50%.

Get openhardwaremonitor and configure it to log your cpu and gpu temps alongside the core frequencies.
Run a few games, check everything. If temps go high you know what to do. If temps are high and you see the core clocks going down you really need to do something.

I think i am going to try with the fans on the motherboard. After all the feature is available and more "modern" as a switch.

If i have any problem or if the config is to complicated, i will go with the switch. I am sure it works perfectly too for gaming.

My PC build is over, but I have a question regarding how to power the GPU (MSI GTX 1070ti).
I must connect a 6 poles and a 8 poles cable on the graphic card (both of them), and I don't know if I should use only one cable from the alim (I have a special cable with 6 + 8 at one end) or better use two separate cable from the alim (I have enough PCIe port on the alim)??

From what I know about electronics: it doesn't matter at all. Normally you have 2 cables for sli. One for each gpu.
With a nitrogen cooled 1080ti at 3 GHz you might need two cables but not with your normal 1070ti

Just wait for the 20 series to come out and then the 1080 Ti prices will drop, particularly in the secondhand marketplace. You won't see much movement in prices past this point until the 20 series cards prices reduce past the early adopter price premium as last generation prices find consistent balance against the latest cards.

Just a comment to say that the dell alienware 34" looks absolutely splendid, way above my expectation. Perfect size, and beautiful piece of gear.
I am very happy with my choice. It will be perfect for simracing, just because the format is great !
This week end I will try to wake up the "beast", install windows etc...
I feel a little afraid, but I have to do it ! I hope that everything is going to work well, because I am not at all a computer specialist.

my advice : LOL

1. Download all latest drivers for all hardware to USB and extract them if needed so they ready

2. Disconnect Internet ........so don't activate W10 .... just skip it for now

3. With W10 installed manually install all your drivers and check device manager for any issues

4. Go into Control Panel / System / Advanced System Settings/ Hardware / Driver installation Settings

5. Change YES to NO and exit

6. Once you sure you installed all drivers recheck that setting again is still NO

ONLY NOW ......Connect the internet and let W10 validate and update

7. Do regular checks after updates that setting does not revert to YES

If it does it will messily overwrite existing drivers

Firewall is another to regularly check
Windows 10 takes huge liberty constantly re-allowing apps through firewall when they get updated

Sorry but I havaen't read your advices before to start the process.
I followed some advices from a Paul's Harware video .

I switch on the PC yesterday and everything is working apparently well !
I am not sure that the fans are rotating in the right way, but this is Something could check.
Everything has been recognized perfectly.
No problem for installing Windows 10 , I just have to plug in the usb created with the Windows Tools, and after one hundred update all works perfectly.
The RGB lights on the pc itself are very nice, like a night club ! I will take some pictures and stopped all of this before to close the pc.

The PC is incredibly quiet.
No noise at all, because I have currently Nothing installed on it.
The GPU fans are not rotating, T° around 32°C.
I suppose it is normal.

The thing I should check are my ram. They are recognized as 2133 MHz into the bios, instead of 3000 MHZ; (I didn't went deep into the UEFI at the moment )

I will install some more things and come back with comments and pictures

In the BIOS under the RAM settings there's a setting to use the 'XMP Profile'. Select this and your RAM will switch to 3000Mhz. The XMP Profile are the timings and speed settings of your RAM modules, and this just tells the BIOS to use them.

My ram is now at 3000 Mhz.

But I talked a little to quickly. Not everything is working properly.
I can not update my GPU driver. Material compatibility check failed
It is very annoying, because all seems to be perfectly installed.
Ther GPU is here on the device management with the right name, the driver is a new one , but no control panel.
Impossible to use the nvidia parameter at the moment.

I will look at this , but it is annoying.

At least my Wheel is recognized !

Yes. I tried the last one and the last before.
I have a june 2018 driver installed, but no control panel nvidia.

There is many video on youtube with the same problem. I hope i could find a solution

I finally could manage to install the last nvidia driver.

I had tried many methods, modified by hand the driver files, ... no way.
The problem is that my card identification is not listed in the driver files.

I finally found a solution by installing first the geforce experience software , and then update the driver within geforce experience.
The driver name listed is then "geforce game ready" instead of "game ready" only .

It works now.

That is why i told you my tried and true method, that won't happen

If you let W10 have it head it will update any drivers it sees fit and won;t tell you
and won't uninstall the drivers it replaces it just overwrites them
By manually installing all latest drivers before internet is connected stops W10
from screwing with them

You should not have had 100 updates if you download latest build 1803

Check Windows Updates > Click On " view update history "

See what is listed under " Driver Updates"
Ideally should be nothing

i exagerated a little.
I didn't have 100 updates ! It was just to say that there was some of them.
What was strange in this case is that my graphic cards have been well recognized, a recent drver have been installed (June 2018), but i could not upgrade. I always don't understand why i can not install the last driver from nvidia website but can install this driver with geforce experience. The only difference is that i had to create an acoount i hate such method.

Important for me now is that i can keep on with my new pc configuration, install games etc... playing is all that count the pc itself is just a box
