No cockpit view no buy.
Seriously coming out with no cockpit view? In 2019?
Or at least I haven't seen a footage showing one.
OK, I know that NFSH is not a simulator, though...cockpit view adds a lot to immersion. Otherwise, driving with chasing cam - for me - is like playing with those handheld toys (dunno the name) back in the '80s.

The much anticipated new entry into the Need for Speed franchise is now available to buy - welcome to the world of Need for Speed Heat.

Now based in the visually stunning Palm City, a fantasy location where players will enact the story of your lead character as they look to progress through the official and underground street racing scene.

With a wealth of cars to choose from, the usual under the hood customisation options available to pimp your ride, and the ever present and increasingly sneaky Police always ready to pounce and make your life hard on the racing streets - this is everything you've come to know and love from the Need for Speed franchise, but bigger and (hopefully) better.

Need for Speed Heat Released 3.jpg

In terms of making changes to the cars in game, the feature is set to contain two distinct variations, visual and performance.

Performance Customisation
Tweak your car’s performance to match your driving preference, whatever your style. There are four main areas you can customize: Engine, Chassis, Drivetrain, and Auxiliary. Upgrading the Engine will give you more power to play with. But if you’re all about how your ride handles you’ll want to focus on the Chassis. Drivetrain gives you access to a combination of handling parts and pure performance parts. And Auxiliary covers everything from nitrous to repair kits.

Visual Customisation
If you can dream it, you can design it in Need for Speed Heat. You’ve got a massive assortment of paint and finish options to choose from, not to mention the hottest splitters, bumpers, tires, grilles, spoilers, and morel. Wild customs? Go faster stripes? It’s all you. Looking for even more options? The wrap editor is back and better than ever, with new decals, collectibles, and cop logos!

As well as car customisation, Need for Speed Heat also includes the ability for the player to make changes to their game character for the very first time. From clothing to looks, Heat gives gamers the opportunity to really immerse themselves in the latest addition to the long running and well regarded franchise.

Lots to see and do - the game is available now!

Need for Speed Heat is available on Xbox One, PS4 and PC now.

Sim Racing is Awesome!

No. Wheel. Support.

I'm outa this.

I was going to complain about no VR support, when I saw your post, no wheel support, really, I get that RD is catering to an audience that is larger than just hardcore SIM, which is a good thing on many levels, but news on a driving game who does not support wheels and not even cockpit view, if I got it right, in 2019!That is a bit much and disappointing.

I have on origin access playable for 10 hours, it's an ok NFS game, nothing more, also The graphics, i mean real in game visuals not the trailers/pics, surprisingly poor for my taste and also for the current date... the most simple textures+too much reflection! trees and vegetation quality= exactly burnout paradise's quality. you don't expect physics and something like that from these games but at least better visuals could be great, it can't even match the ubisoft's DOA game, "The crew 2" game. rant ended :D

Do you race Mario kart in VR too on a motion simulator with your kids?

My kids have kids of their own and are not interested in any form of racing games, but my 2 grandaughters, 3 and 5, are very interested in sitting on pappies laps to drive the cars in the goggle and zero interest in moving the car on the screen with the pad. I hope it answers your question.;)
Bram, it is your web site, if you are happy trying to promote game like this one, I am happy for you. I am not sure how it will help RD main mission and how it fits in the main reason you enjoy SIM, which is racing online with other SIM racers, as per the podcast you did earlier this year with Paul and Paul.
I was just expressing my opinion that this one is a little extreme, at least even Mario Kart has wheel support, I believe.

Like everybody else I started with an arcade game and using a pad, so I get it, we need to cater to the next wave if we hope to keep this amazing hobby growing in the future. I am just feeling that this one is really in the fringe.:)

I see pc got it's way into gaming also. :roflmao:

I only got my simrace setup at high-grade-level able to play this game, so i am definetely interested in wheel support.

This is a deal-breaker, thank you for the info Rendelius.

These imho sarcastic comments can be saved (especially since coming from site-admins).

Anyway to bad, as i was looking for a non-serious race-game able to be played on my simrace-setup.

The concept of escaping cops in a complex, open world city.. would have so much potential, when done in totally different way. Wreckfest handling and damage kind of way.

No wheel support, says it all. They are in the complete opposite end of spectrum (the most boring kind) and seems like they are determined to stay there, year after year. Follow the arrows, press button to drift

It doesn't even look good, Forza Horizon 4 looks TONS better, has more cars, and actually a cockpit view and some kind of wheel support. Why this game even exists

I am all for a good arcade racer but...I'm clearly way too old for this game.

That's why I like the GRID series so much, I think. Very little dudebro attitude to make me feel like the fossil I'm becoming.

The older I get, the more I find playing video games takes a suspension of disbelief to a level I can't maintain. AAA titles, for sure. Very hard to find one that takes their audience seriously. Most seemed to be geared towards the teen-to-early-20s male demo...since that is probably overwhelmingly the most lucrative/enthusiastic market segment for video games, that would make sense.

It probably sounds like I'm complaining, but I am really fine with it - I still have plenty of games to play, I'm just unlikely to spring for any title that assumes me to be wearing a flat brimmed hat and calling everyone "bruh" :D

Sounds like most in this thread are taking ALL of this way too seriously. It's a goof-around game. Do burnouts. Run from cops. Pimp your ride. Lol. What's the big deal? No wheel support? Who cares? And if RD wants in on here because it contains cars and you can drive them, then so be it. Gee wiz. Please don't everyone be so serious.

It's too bad that arcade racing games these days are not taken seriously. After 2 hours of play, I can admit that the map is cool and that the handling is not completely stupid, but it's still mostly dumb dudebros with nothing to say who don't shut up, rap and hip hop, and some lazy on/off drifting mechanic that you can't control much. Better than some previous games, but NFS is still far from a slam dunk.

Then you have people like PGSM who don't think that arcade games can be good and engaging. Stick to Forza Horizon if you just want to do burnouts in a field.

The world needs a new Midnight Club, that series rewarded skill and reflexes, with solid handling and dangerous traffic.
