Because of the odd gearing and power curve, 6th really is slower unless you're going down a pretty steep hillYou are not alone. I've never touched 6th gear. Maybe the long straight at Le Mans would be enough?

Hah, the Mazda's were faster in sector 2!Great racing as always, everyone. Thanks @HF2000 for hosting.
@Taj Johal I ran out of fuel just before the chicane... If it wasn't for the incline before the line I think I would have kept 13th. Cheers to you!

Thompson the other week, actually.Nordschleife back in May, maybe??
Wow, yes indeed. The Skoda tyres were just plain odd - nowhere near as much grip as the slicks on the Mazda, so maybe they are some kind of hybrid tyre... (Not that they lasted very long though!)Hah, the Mazda's were faster in sector 2!
How can you wear out the tires in 2 laps?It was red from lap 2 for me, ignore it, when the race is over it will go away.
I don't even know why the Mx5 cup has 6 speeds. And a question for Mazda drivers, have you ever used 6th gear in any of the races? I never have
Yes indeed! I couldn’t believe my lap times mid-race. Thought I had the gumption to keep Tim at bay and possibly overtake Douglas but alas that was not the case. Once Tim was past me through the chicane that was it and he drove off into the distance. Ultimately, these hard pushes mid-race used up my two lap allowance of fuel I gave myself.Hah, the Mazda's were faster in sector 2!
I just tested that. I think you'd only use it for certain situations such as that, and it would be good for endurance to save fuel. Otherwise you we typically lose speed in 6th.Because of the odd gearing and power curve, 6th really is slower unless you're going down a pretty steep hill
Reik. Thanks for fair race and good battle. I like it very much! See yaa next time. That was indeed good fun with the Skoda.
I had good racing and battling with Marko. Also Neil made pressure all race long from a very short distance in P3.
I finished 2nd, because Marko was a tiny bit faster than me.
Maybe I should've dared to use my more tail happy setup in race, too, because I got pole with this setup. Who knows...
Thy Han for hosting this event!
Hi Paul, I think everyone had the same, looking at the pace of the frontrunners and me. It looks like the extra weight of the fuel has a big impact on the Skoda in the beginning of the race and in the second part the tyre wear prevented better lap times.but I need to go off and try to work out why I cannot get near my practice/Qualy times in the race.
