Welcome to the RD Racing Club.

After what turned out to be a typical Abarth circuit in Japan, this week a circuit where the Mazda should have the upper hand. We move far north, to a country usually associated with downhill skiing and biathlon rather than motor racing. The Arctic Circle Raceway in Norway is the northernmost race track in the world. It is so far north that it is possible to run a night race in daylight in the summer!

DISCLAIMER: I HAVE STILL TO GET CONFIRMATION THAT THIS TRACK CAN BE LEGALLY USED. I MIGHT HAVE TO CHANGE IT LATER BUT YOU WILL HAVE A GREAT TRACK FOR OFFLINE RACING THEN ANYWAY.

Especially the new and inexperienced drivers are recommended to participate. There are a lot of learning opportunities but without the intensity and stress of the GT3/4 cars or the endurance multiclass cars. It's also good step up for those kind of events.

Checked out the track and I must say this is like a polar bear.
Looks all nice and cute from afar but if you get too close you will regret it!

The first few laps were fun, many varied corners and elevations, a lot for me to learn.
As soon as tried to push it a bit harder to get better lap times the bear showed it's teeth.
If I mess up the line, or the entry speed, or the balance on the fast chicanes I get a close encounter with a barrier.
If I don't nail the braking point for the multiple hairpins I either lose a ton of time or simply go check if the grass is still green. :(
I could blame the track, but it's actually a skill issue... :roflmao:

Great find Han, I'm looking forward to lots of interesting racing this Wednesday.
Let's all just take it easy in the first lap - first corners should be fine, what worries me is T4.
But hey, T4 > T1 amairaight? ;)

I have felt a lot of bumps on some apexes, somewhat similar to that F1 porpoising, but obviously not caused by downforce. The track looks clean but I take the turn and the suspension turns to jelly bouncing up and down. I tried softening suspension and and raising spring height, which helped but did not remove it completely.
Are there any other settings I can try adjusting to remove the bouncy castle feeling?
Any other (Abarth) drivers experiencing the same?

This will definitely be a challenging race for me. I will try to focus on improving my braking, even throwing in some trail braking where I can, but that will be secondary. My main challenge for this race will be to not make too many mistakes, so I will probably have to take it slowly and controlled.
Let's see how it goes!

Edit: missed a word, added in underline.

Plenty of ppl here know more about the Abarth than I Ricardo, though from what I can gather here is to take those bumpier corners a touch earlier - aim for an imaginary apex that you can't hit - knowing the bumps throw you offline, then you are on the power sooner. Hope that makes sense!:)

Hope to join Weds, work is still mad - but hope to join last min, looks like a great combo:)
