Modding Questions Thread

I'm currently thinking of starting a kind of ficitional season mod using the 1996 and 1999 Williams and Ferrari cars, in different fictional liveries or liveries heavily based on real ones for some.

I intend to have a full 22-car grid, but I want to use the classic mode for it so it doesn't interfere with (f**k up) the main game. Is there anyway to do this, so I can have 11 teams using these 4 cars without textures interfering with each other.

Admittedly, I would be ok with overwriting the 2013 cars for a full season mode, but I want to know if just copying the cars into the directory would make it work. And that said, where the 1990's cars are stored.

---- so yeah, the 90s cars are a <snip>g pain to mod. However it seems pretty easy to do the 80s cars, so yeah, that's where this mod will go. I also think it's better just to replace the 2013 cars, as they're crap anyway. I succeeded in getting a full grid of classic cars, but they were all on Williams colours so it was scary as ****, and then the race suits were like a <snip> rainbow, so <snip> that.

So an update on plans:

Probably have a grid of '76 Ferraris reskinned into various fictional and semi fictional liveries, using livery_<no> thing and renaming the livery_main, like the driver-specific livery mod.
I'm not pissing around with the calendar yet, or track textures
Get those bleeding driver suits done somehow
Replace the 2013 cars in Career, GP and all those other modes.

And, lastly, does anyone actually post answers in the questions thread or is it just a questions, but no answers thread? I can't imagine this game has died already, as F1 2014 seems crap and it has no classic cars, which just undermines everything.

mod edit - edited out the swearing. Replacing a couiple of letters with '**' doesn't make it any better

Hmm, I suppose it'll be a while before anyone notices then. I got F1 2013 after 2014 was released because it was cheap on gamestop, and to put things into some kind of perspective the only other F1 games I have are 2002 and career challenge. But if 2015 gets released in a few months, I'll probably go for that. I thought more people might still play 2013 because of the Classic content, but yeah, ill just patiently wait here for an answer. Even so, someone might still know if it's possible.

When I was late with the raceload and ML was somehow able to provide textures, it was not too late for people to start editing the classic stuff.
Unfortunately the only thing that got created was some half... (Oh, come on, really, no foul language? Is it PEGI 3 here? It's common language ...) 2003 season which wasn't really good at all, to be honest.

So, yep, you are too late now - I personally have already uninstalled 2013, wanted to create several classic mods for personal purpose but got tired of it.

Still playing F1 1994 / 1997 / 2007 mods from F1 2012, they're fun and give some special feeling. CM's new way of smooth coding aka texture mirroring may be the main fault for people not touching the classic stuff too deeply.

Depends.
I think, a classic mode will not be back. (but CM surprised me a few times already)
I think (and that's a realistic opinion) the texture mirroring won't change, too. CM isn't about modding, they more or less focus on getting the best performance on consoles. And even the new consoles are weak compared to mid-end gaming PCs.

So it depends on what you want to mod. Surely getting a base for the most people using your stuff will be F1 2015 as it's said to be released in spring, thus when the F1 season begins.

That may attract more people to grab a copy of the game than usually, though ... may more people on consoles only, not on PC.

Hello, I'm new to the forums. I have a modding questing about f1 2013 for mac. I've been able to locate mods, but I can't apply them without crashing the game. A few legends I'd like to try and get are senna, lauda, and hunt. Hopefully someone with experience in this arena can help me out.

I am looking for an improved sound for the 90s cars. I know there are allready some soundmods but only for the "career cars". So my Question, is there allready a mod. If not: Is someone able to do this for me, or just could give some advises how to do that.
Thanks ;)

Hello to everyone on Race Department, and thank you for your time. If that is, you read what I had to say/ask and also tried to offer help. I also apologies if I didn't put this in the right place in the forums, I'm still a complete noob to the forums. Otherwise...

I need some advice on Modding the F1 2013 Title, and I'm hoping someone out there can provide there assistance. Anyways, what I want to Mod specifically is the suit for the driver, and I also want to mod the decal on the car. The thing is... all I want to do is just add my drivers name to the suit, and his countries flag rather then have the previous drivers name, and country on the suit. I want to do same thing for the car, and I just assumed that's were these's things are located at... if that's not how you change those, then please could someone help me figure out how to change those, if it is. How exactly do I do it? Do I use Photoshop, or do I use some other program. Could you please hook me up with the links of the things I need that are essential. I'd would really appreciate it.

Apologies for the grammar if it's horrid!

mod edit - I merged your question into this thread, only to find that you had already posted here. This is the correct place for it, please don't multiple post it into other parts of the forum, thanks :)

To mod textures you will need Ryder's PSSG Editor, and a program such as Photoshop or Paint.NET. The textures you want are in f12013\cars\<car name\livery_main and f12013\characters\models\2013 if I remember correctly.

car names are as follows
ca2 - Caterham
fc2 - Force India
fe2 - Ferrari
lr2 - Lotus
ma2 - Marussia
mc2 - McLaren
me2 - Mercedes
rb2 - Red Bull
sa2 - Sauber
tr2 - Toro Rosso
wi2 - Williams

Thanks a lot man, I appreciate it! If I have anymore questions regarding Paint.Net or Photoshop do you mind if I come to you? Because the last time I used Paint.Net I couldn't drop photos into the picture, it would just make a new tab, if that makes any sense at all.

Photoshop is uncharted territory for me, but Paint.net I'm good with. For adding images to existing images, Ctrl V for same layer, Ctrl Shift V for paste to new layer and Ctrl Alt V to paste to new image.

By the way I'm not good ay explaining, but I can try

Okay, thanks for the help! I figured out by myself on how to get the car to have my name and flag on it, but I can't find were I can change the drivers suit to have my name and flag on it? Do you know were the file for that is... I've been searching around, but I still can't find it. The only thing I've found is what I'm about to upload, the thing is I can't see the flag or name for me to change. But when I play, and get podium or anything else to in able a cut scene of my driver throwing a fit, or cheering for winning. I can see Daniel's name rather than mine, besides on the car. Hopefully I'm making some sense right now lol.....
