Hey I have a question about the database editor. It actually pertains to F1 2011, but seeing as that forum is a ghost town - and i'm hoping the database editing has stayed relatively consistent throughout the series - I figure I should ask here.

There was a way to edit the database so you could set the level of a driver, which would basically control if a specific driver would be replaced by you (the player) when you entered a specific team. For eg. if I moved to Ferrari as the #1, I would want Fernando to be my teammate, not Massa, so I would have to edit the database to allow this (by making Massa higher level, so the game saw him as a #1).

I read the step by step in the 2011 thread, but I couldn't seem to get it to work (I went to Sauber as a #2 and wanted Perez as my teammate, but it was still Kobayashi despite me setting his level to 1 and Perez's to 5). Can anyone here assist with this if they have experience? Thank you.

.
Open the database.bin with Ego Database Editor. Go to f1_teams tab and find out your team ID which you want to change. Then go to f1drivers_f1teams or something similar, can't quite remember how it was written. In there is a column which is something like team_first_driver or so. There is a tick in every drivers slot who is the first driver. Then all you got to do is swap the ticks between for instance, Massa and Alonso. You can easily find drivers by their own ID or the teams ID. The drivers ID's can be found in the f1_drivers tab btw. I hope this helped. If you have any questions regarding this, I'm more than happy to reply.

Awesome, thanks for the info - I'll give it a shot today.

Also another quick question, after these changes are made, does a whole new season have to be started or can I make the DB changes in the middle of a career?

Ferrari example again - I join Ferrari as #2, Alonso is teammate, I Get promoted to #1 and edit Alonso to be #2

But be warned ! Changing id's will corrupt your save game !

I've been trying to make Caterham a mid-field team just for fun. I'm having issues with the cars bottoming out though when I switch the CTF files over. I tried to look at the CTF files with the editor and fix the files but haven't had any luck. Was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction as to what I need to change to fix the bottoming out.

EDIT: Figured it out you have to also copy the corresponding .ND2 file to get the car to stop bottoming out.
