MINI FRIDAY'S ARE BACK ON RACEDEPARTMENT :inlove:

Previously hosted for years with iconic sims such a RACE The WTCC Game, RACE 07, GTR Evolution, Game Stock Car, Stock Car Extreme and Automobilista 1 it's now time for Automobilista 2 to take over one of the oldest types of racing club events done on RaceDepartment.

Open for both absolute beginners and more experience simracers the easy going MINI John Cooper Works is one of the coolest cars to race online with a full field of opponents.

Are you new to simracing and want to race with more experienced simracers who will show you the ropes and help you as much as they can during a casual fun online event, don't miss out and sign up today! Experienced drivers, seasoned veterans, are of course very much welcome too!

You will not get any faster or skilled by not racing online, you will only get faster with online practice and resistance with other virtual pilots surrounding you. Especially when these drivers are your friendly fellow community members who are happy to assist you with driving tips, techniques or even setups. Simply join us on Discord during the event and chat away. We don't bite, I promise :)

Do you want to become a better pilot, take your chance now and start your online sim racing career here on RD with the amazing MINI Cooper JCW and sign up in the comments below and I'll add you to the sign-list for the event.

Got any questions? You can leave them in the comments down below as well. Happy to help!

Somehow I’m glad it was still intense for you. I struggle a lot with racecraft and keeping my pace up during the race, even if it’s „just“ 30 minutes… but this car really feels like a good tool to improve on that, so I hope I can make it to more races in the future too :)

oh, but 30 minutes definately is not "just" in my opinion. Most online races are 6-10 laps or 10 minutes +1 lap, so 30 minutes is already serious length. Especially when you have to drive pretty much qualifying pace all race and don't have a margin to make any (serious) error. And those yellow sausage kerbs in the chicane knock the MIni around so easily!

@Lucas Degen thanks a lot for hosting and for the great evening. Just had a beer and folded some laundry while watching you and Stefan's race. That was a really cool battle. Liked the divebomb into T1 and the "nuts maneuvre". Hope to see you all again soon on track and Happy Easter
More than welcome! Happy my first hosted race went well. Thanks for racing!

Yes, thanks @Lucas Degen, I had a great time. Looking forward to join more races.

It may have looked boring, but it was plenty intense in the cockpit anyway. I don't think I've done any races before in the Mini without spinning at least once, never mind 30 minutes at that pace. Serious Hamilton-syndrone. Are my tires going? Have I calculated the fuel correctly? Is he coming closer? Am I losing power? Is damage even on in this race? Have I abused the gearbox too much?

I'll have a look at the replay later today to see what I've missed!
Thank you for racing. I had a great time!

I know some of you have already signed up, but just a little reminder that we are running the Caterham Supersport (aka the most accessible one) tomorrow evening if anyone is interested? They are a bit looser on the rear than the mini, but still pretty catchable.

Evenings are always a bit difficult for me to predict how things will turn out with work and dinner and stuff, so it will often be last minute and/or skipping some weeks before I have a chance to join. But I should be there Tuesday 18th, pretty much regardless of car/track combo.

Having said that, if there ever is a race in the P3 class, specifically the non-turbo MetalMoro MRX Honda or the Roco 001, I will skip work and dinner to make it... just love those cars... :inlove:

P3 is on my list :). love those cars in VR. I'm trying to stick with a class/model for a few weeks to let everyone get familiar with the handling, so I'll be sticking with the Caterham for a bit, but if you like the P3, you should give it a try as I personally find it evokes the same sense of playfulness
