i was banned on a server because people think I'm cheating...

spa is one of my strongest circuits and I'm very consistent at it, today i started from almost last (didn't qualify) to first in only 2 or 3 laps, my car was blazing fast and the track was hot, after i had a nice 20 second battle with the first place holder they started accusing "Mickael Oliveira" (me) of cheating, and then i got banned on Sim Racing Geek server...

one thing i may need to add is that just today i started testing overclock on my fx 4300 (i know it's not recommended for acc) and at 4.4 ghz on acc (online) EVERY CAR WAS FLICKERING LIKE CRAZY and when i got close to them from behind they would instantly pop right behind me, no need to overtake, the game does it to me effortlessly... so in that case i would gladly report someone like this for cheating without doubt...

but that was the only race i did with that frequency (the race wouldn't even end two laps after checkered flag so i quit the race), after i quit the race i immediately turned off my pc and turned down the clock speed from 4.4 to 4.0 ghz which if your search for it you'll see that it's the stock boost clock for that cpu, now it runs at that speed 24/7...

the ban happened on a race with that boost clock speed, but no one was flickering this time, like no one at all... and ping was stable (I live in Brazil and the server is on the US so ping isn't that high if compared to a server on let's say France...)

somehow people were too slow for me on the straights (specially after eau rouge/raidillion where i can do it flat out almost everytime) while i was getting very good grip on the track...

I just hope I can get unbanned on that server... i didn't even know things like this could happen, feels very bad :/

Thanks guys for sharing your experience! This could as well be the case in the situation, that was presentet (probably actually unwanted).

There are for sure different methods for determining time inside the hardware. I'm not an expert for stuff like that, but just recently read about HPET (high precision event timer) and that it can be enabled, disabled or entirely missing and with that beeing the case, there must be other means to measure time. Maybe counting clock cycles and calculating the time based on the specs of the processor, but if it is running overclocked ...

I wondered how long it will take that the cheats from MasterLooser will be distributed into our community. I had a couple of occassions where I could see average drivers I know from CP races had quite a boost in talent and were driving alien times suddenly when they were merely in the midfield or at the end of the starting grid a couple days or weeks before.
Quite some impressive advance in skill and talent. One guy I just saw 2 or 3 days ago with the name of D.Iglesias, his abbreviated sign gave it away: x88ACC was his abbreviated driver name... look it up and you will know who that is...
This guy will give us plenty of headaches in the upcoming months and I urge you to increase the pressure on Kunos to fix those exploits he is using. I would say it is completely useless to race cp servers in ACC right now due to the obvious reasons... what does Kunos do about it?? That´s what I would ask the developers for ACC ....

Well considering they are only focusing on esport and dlc's while core game aspects like career, AI and multiplayer received pretty much no improvements at all. I guess they will only fix if it becomes enough of a headache and start hurting their precious esport scene.

While there are cheats out there they are a very small minority but do need dealing with, I know when I had my issue it drove me mad as I was winning every race and people were losing trust in me so I got rid of that PC asap, glitches like this do happen, here is a more pronounced version with a higher clock, I get off the line well before anyone else and power off, I then slowed down to the pack to see how much speed I was actually gaining and you can see I just powered past, this was when we were testing it to report to SMS.

They dont even need to get out there, it is the same in AC1, and i am pretty sure there are already some people cheating, just so barely the seem legit

when I played SP games, when I was 12 years old, I used cheaters / trainers, for games that were otehrwise too hard, but I did realize - well, that kinda takes the reward out of it , and since then I never needed the cheats since, ... well let me rephrase that, since I remembered the moment I wanted to break my controller when playing SEKIRO , .. I could see times where cheating would be great, but didn't do it cause I couldn't be bothered

for MP though, you are not only "ruining" your own experience, but you are also ruining other people experience, and that's definitely where I would draw a line

people will always try to cheat, when their skills are not enough
ha, well in some really strange way, alien drivers ( depending on circumstances) , cause they are "exploting" limits of the simulation , but that's not really point I'm trying to make

Sims should absolutely be banning people that are caught cheating, but there needs to be a proper proof, rather then just "this guy is too fast"

Guys,

Do you know what you are??? You're a liar, and a cheater!!!

Guys, I was on the server... I was the one that first told him he was cheating... I was at first place and I realized that I was losing pace on the straights to the Ferrari he was using... And there's no way a Ferrari is faster than a R8 on straights...

Check out the replay I recorded:

The video is a bit long, because I recorded all his action until I left the race to chat with him... And why I know this guy is lying?? I'm brazilian too, and when I told him, in our language, that he was cheating, he replied with laughs... When I told him I would report him, more laughs.... But, for his bad luck, the server admin was watching him, was a brazilian to and started chatting to... And he was not banned from the server.... He disconnected, after we both started complaining about his cheating... Probably he disconnected to start this lying thread in here... The server admin said he was recording all this cheater's action and that we would report him... So, there's two person that witnessed his cheating actions and talked to him about it, and one of them is the server admin.... No way this story he told is true...

Ah, by the way, when we were "racing" and he placed himself to overtake me, I'd already realized he was cheating, but he managed to stay side to side and "compete" with me for a while, trying to dissimulate his cheating... You'll see that on the video... And an interesting fact: on the lap he overtook me, he started almost 2s behind and, even with a big mistake made at bus stop (which I'd not be suprised if it was not a mistake, but a way to not show his real laptime) and a line crossed some 2s ahead of me, my laptime that lap was around 2:20 and his, was around 2:25!!! How on earth is that possible??? Only to a cheater!!!

So, don't you guy fell on this damn cheater's story... I hope I could find an easy and fast way to report this guy so we can keep ACC clean of bad users like this... But what I've found was a way to report to steam, and the report is not a garantee that the ban will occur, so I preffered to expose this idiot on ACC forum and now, in here...

Cheers,
Bruno
by the way i figured out that my pc was in fact doing some weird **** with that cpu, not only on acc but in other games too. if you don't want to trust me hey, that's on you but what i can say is that the last lap before i got banned (not disconnected, admin actually banned me before the lap ended), it would have been around 2:15, that's better than some e-sports aliens can do and i know that it was fishy as ****. in fact i can incriminate myself even more and give you the replay right here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IEAK9RLlDxnSY0LghnJLyXYZOXxg_2ln/view (actual sim racing geek admin responded my post on steam with the link)... why am i doing this? BECAUSE I WAS NOT CHEATING DAMNIT... i believe this is a bug, it's very random and rare for it to happen, i changed my motherboard and cpu but before this i managed to replicate the "cheat" again at one race and when i noticed it i got out of there before anyone noticed i was faster... so anyways if you time my laps before the ban on your phone using a timer or sorts, laptimes between the dash lap time counter and the game lap counter will differ, it's not like my car has a boost that makes the car actually faster ingame, but more of like a "game/server clock cheat", it's been a long time since this race but when i was overtaking all of the grid in less than 2 laps it was not like i was faster, but like the people were going slower, in fact i laughed at the chat claiming that i was cheating because i was actually thinking you guys were too damn slow...

i forgot about this post because i made another one on steam and was replying and reading stuff there so i'm sorry for necroing my own post and not responding earlier.

I had a look at the acceleration and compared it to my telemetry on the same track and same car. I can manage a 2.19 around Spa in the 488. The acceleration looks very similar, or maybe you are 0.5 seconds quicker to 260kmh on the Kemmel straight but speeds look reasonable enough.
To be fair, it does seem as if it was unintentional. There is no fun in cheating as you won't get the winning buzz I guess.....and the fact you have highlighted it here suggests that it is an honest discovery you have made.
As far as cheaters are concerned, telemetry never lies. A cheater who crosses the line in 1st is not the winner.

I identified a lot with this guy because I think the same is happening to me, I have an FX 4300 oc to 4.3ghz, I ran in the srs with a 3 eleven and was glued to a guy who was doing his lap 3 seconds faster than me, the even questioned me at the end of the race and I didn't know how to answer, I think so, the fx may be accelerating the game in some bizarre way

It's quite common to see FX processors screw up overclocked. They tend to miss an entire cycle when pushed over their limit causing the CPU doing a recalculation of the position on track in the cycles after and then sending it to the server, server recalculates and poof you have teleported.
