It seems to me that its not the track, but the tires that created a strange strategy this year. Almost impossible to pass with any car dimensions in the past, but this year it was extraordinarily BORING due basically to the unnatural rules of today.
Monaco was special because of its (used to be) extreme challenge to the driver. Even if the race was decided in qualifying in previous years we could still marvel at the skill required by the drivers as they pushed flat out for the duration.
This year the winning car had a broken power unit! Hats of to RIC as he managed all of the issue to win... but several seconds off the pace for 78 laps is not racing in any sense.
