ACC GTC Sprint race @ Donington - Mon 27th March 2023

Assetto Corsa Competizione Racing Club event
Thanks for the race guys, it was interesting to say the least, but good fun. I spent quite a bit of time off-track in the first few laps, then spent the rest of the race struggling with tyre pressures. Probably overlooked the temps for the start of the race.

Thanks all for this fun race and congrats to the podium.
This Ferrari was tough to drive, definitley a strange car...

Thanks aIso to Chris for organizing, hope to see you all on saturday:thumbsup:

Thanks for trying out something different tonight lads, enjoyed that.

Epic racing with Ricardo for the last half of the race, that was great fun.

Congrats to the podium and mklengel on the win :)

*On a sidenote if you aren't using the radar in ACC please consider it. I saw a few people get pushed wide or even off track when it was completely avoidable.

Race report:

Well...

That wasn't exactly how I remember driving a Primera round Donington on TOCA 2 back in the day.

But I think, weirdly, it may have helped me get the old hairpin and the chicane at the start of melbourne loop right, I distinctly remember chucking that Primera around those corners in order to gain some much needed time from where I was ultra slow on the circuit.

In the end I got down to 133:3 in practice, after restarting my whole setup at 7pm to try and get the Lambo to turn in on the hairpins better.

So, pleased with that so far.

Then I qualified not last. :)

Then I took it steady for the first couple of laps, a Huracan scrapyard appeared in front of me at the old hairpin, so I found my way on to the grass as part of my path thru, and off up the hill, and suddenly, I was not only definitely not last, good drivers were behind me.

I lost places quickly as the better drivers caught and passed me, but now we were lap 3 and I knew I could start pushing it again and started to get into a rhythm.

It was at this point, Hardie caught me, and what fun that turned out to be.

I *think* I was faster up the hill from the old hairpin, but he was faster thru the chicane into the Melbourne loop, and out of that section. I managed to hold him off for a couple of laps, gap getting bigger thru sector 2, smaller thru 3, until the rookie in me surfaced and I went too deep into the hairpin and into the marbles.

So I lost that position, close behind was JClarke, we again raced nice and close for a couple of laps, agsain I could stretch out a gap, he could pull it back. Back and forth, back and forth.

Then I made mistake number 2. Overcooked it on a corner, Jay straight past. I composed myself, got back into my rhythm, started catching.

A couple of pings of dirt cloud into the air, and I know he is feeling the pressure, Im going to do it, 2 laps left....

Then disaster, too hot again into a corner, into the grass, Jay off into the distance.

So I composed myself again, gave it my best, bought it home, raised my arm in celebration as I crossed the line.

I did it. I competed. A couple of rookie errors crept in that did for me, but I was right there, Im so pleased.

Bring on the GT4s.

These cars are great fun! I think we should do a whole field with the Porsche with no TC! :D

I think I got a good headstart over the rest of the Old Lambo field due to the field ahead being so patient on their cold tires.
Managed to have a good pace at the start, catching every snap oversteer the lambo threw at me.

Then Chris caught up. I tried everything to keep him behind, but 7 laps was enough for him to study my weeknesses and go for it. Awesome racing Chris, hope I was fair in my defending.

Thank you for putting this on.
Congrats to Michael for the win.

Re post because I posted in wrong thread

Fantastic event! Great fun, every single race is a little further up and over that learning curve I find myself on,

Brief report:
Best quali position ever.
Consistent lap time in practice.
Happy with set up.
Now to my minuses… being mid field was a first for me, so a little overwhelming in first few turns, so expecting a place drop or two, settling in I had confidence and after error from cars in front managed to hold 8th for most of race, but alas a error and I lost a place, then again on last hairpin, huge braking error launched me across the grass thankfully car behind avoided me. Each race is new lessons, this one was concentration…… I should have kept my P8, only myself to blame.

Radar system worked but on one occasion told me “clear” and it wasn’t, and car was out of my FOV, so nearly collected it. Being in traffic from start was good experience even if it was, hectic but needed to experience it.

Thanks all for the great sportsmanship and drifting skills lol, we all went sideways at least once I just know it lol.
See you all in practice next week .

Were you using Crew Chief or the ACC spotter?
There was a time I was using both until I turned off the ACC one because of that. It tells you you are clear when there is still a bumper next to you.

I'm using the Acc Radar and the CrewChief Spottet. The Acc Spotter is mutet because it is not that good as the CrewChief Spotter. But most important is to turn the Radar on.

I think this tends to be down to little lag spikes / netcode. I've been leaving room still just after the radar says clear if I know the other car is mega close.

I have been using it for so long, I don't even remember to mention the extra detail it gives you.

For example, with our battle yesterday, it gave me in which corner/straight you were faster (to bad I didn't know the corner names), what times you were posting, and then the usual spotter stuff.
At the start it told me I was fighting a faster class car, but that it was for position, no blue flags involved.
It tells me who binned it in which corner.
Next important thing for me, is it keeps me informed of tire temp and pressure, as well as brake temp.
Oh, and every mention it does of drivers around me is by name. It was telling me the fastest laps Brooks was setting throughout the race.

It's an easy recommendation from me.

Not much to report for this race, initial opening lap went well in to the very British chicane queuing system after that I just kept it consistent.

Nice wee battle with Robert’s mid race and overtaking the over enthusiastic Evo drivers going all Dirt Rally hehe

I didn’t do many laps with the car unfortunately so my car choice felt like I brought a knife to a gun fight
