AC GT3 @ Watkins Glen - Sunday 6th September 2020

Assetto Corsa Racing Club event
what a shame....had framerate issues and cpu 99 percent warning and had to give up. Realized that cpu fan came lose somehow. Could have been a good race for me as in training I had a constant race pace with full fuel load in the 1.46. All hours of training invain.....cu next race

What a race. The start was really intense, I had no idea what strategy @Aksu was on so knew I had to defend hard. Aki got a great run down to turn 1 and overtook me on the outside, so I let him go and waited my turn to get the draft up the hill, and eased off the throttle a bit to get a good run. We went pretty much side by side into the chicane, with predictable results (albeit thankfully nobody died) ;)

After that I did some tyre management for a while by shortshifting, but eventually the fuel consumption and tyre wear looked good enough that I didn't need to do that any more about half way through the race.

Had a bit of a code brown after someone had an off in front of me and rejoined on the racing line, but thankfully the front axle and suspension were intact, so it wasn't too bad in the end.

In general I'm really happy with how it went today: solid performance in quali, no real mistakes in the race except for a few scary oversteer corrections in the last turn and turn 1, and I really made the long medium strategy work for me today.

Thanks everyone for coming out! Look out for next week's event posted tomorrow afternoon, I'd love to see you all back

Well, another potentially good finish lost to bad strategy and a bunch of self-spins on the outside grass after the chicane. Every time I want to be stricter on fuel and do 1 medium (the latter on this instance particularly!) and every time I chicken out of both.

Got a nice view of the Henry-Aki fight at the start, it was nice being P3 for a while :ninja: Nice driving with Jens and Andreas for a while too. Too bad both of you didn't change tyres...

Congrats podium guys, thanks for organising, and cya next week!

Not my finest hour, but I did okay. Had to resort to mediums, this circuit kills softs, even in the Nissan. Messed up my pit stop completely, bugger.:(
Got punted at the start, that will teach me to be careful in the first corner.
Congrats to podium, some amazing times. Will look forward to watching the fast magicians on the replay.:)

Thanks everyone for the race. I’m getting a little better. Well, at staying out of the way mostly ;). How does one save a reply? I found the temp folder in documents/assettocorsa, but reply was incomplete.

I wondered if I had to puke after the race, cause I had driven only few short stints with my new VR-glasses :D Luckily there was no problem! Damn it’s a whole new world with Reverbs compared to screen :D

My quali went well but in the second lap I flew off the track and came back too slow and someone hit me (wasn’t his fault) and I dropped back to P20.. Then I went in tho pursuit and got to P4 at last so it went pretty well! Thanks Chris for hosting!

E: here’s the results

Thanks for hosting @Chris Down ! I think I'm getting a bit smoother as I managed to keep the rears in the green the whole race this time. Still need more practice though as I was getting pretty badly mugged in a few specific corners! :D Sundays are a bit tricky for me, but I'll try and join more often if I can.
