Assetto Corsa Racing Club event
Demetri thank you for your help, this was my first race outside the "usual" Assetto Corsa online. I was actually afraid of the softs overheating, I used the mediums and I couldn't get the front in temperature. I'll try next time, I arrived 11th but I had fun!
Yeah, and when fronts don't heat the car doesn't want to turn. I often have this problem with the Audi which is probably the second worst car when it comes to tires overheating. To me, it helps to play with rear toe. Making it negative (I went as much as -0.11 on both left and right for the Kayalami race and -0.14 for Donington) helps to make the car more willing to rotate mid-turn, but also makes it pretty nervous and requires a lot of precision from the driver. You often can see the advice of not even thinking to try that (negative rear toe), but hey, if it's stupid and works it ain't stupid

That was really really fun! Drove the 911 and stuck with my usual strategy of softs and only pit (late) for 2 litres of fuel. I know I can manage the tires in this car, but as fun as the defending I was doing, y'all killing my tires early lol. Had a few minor mistakes but I tried to stay consistent throughout.

Qualified P8 and finished in P10. Could have done better by a few tenths in quality but made those silly little mistakes. Lap times fell off with the warned out softs. Came out the pits in P8 and got passed by couple guys on either better managed tires or fresh tires. Just barely made it on the lead lap lol

Congrats to Dimitry for the win and the podium! Thanks everyone for the racing and our beloved admins for the server troubleshooting.

Here's my external view below. I apologize for some parts of the video/audio being out of sync. New camera but this one doesn't sync up like it should with the audio from the game. I will be reverting back to my old camera in future video's. Also, I've got some video recording lights coming 8n the mail today, so my next video's should look better.

With the new SG platform it's now possible to enter a race without running discord (I guess you didn't have to run TS either) or ask for an invite via a forum thread. So it's also possible to not read the golden rules that are in the thread. There are no mention of the rules on SG (or have I missed them?) so how is a new driver to know how to behave?

I've found these forums to be an integral part of my enjoyment. It's a shame newer members could miss out if they go directly via SG.

Could it be possible, on SG, to have a generic rules page and maybe a link to the event specific forum thread?

I'll give it a try, thanks

Double-stint on one set of softs? In a Porsche??? You must have been really struggling on the last laps just trying to nurse it home. I had to race 50 minutes on one set of softs once (90 min race at Nords Endurance with temps in low teens, so mediums weren't usable) and boy were they shot by the end of that stint! Probably ten seconds slower than the normal laptime

I dont have the free camera app, but that is my outside view with Car Radar.
In the app you touched me already, but on screen there is a little room left.

I'm sorry guys. I guess I just panicked a bit. My full name appeared on SGP and I don't know where they got it from. I wasn't happy reading that they share the info, but I guess it's there. Maybe I'm over concerned, heck most of my info is probably out there already.

As for racing: Most of the time I'm alone in practice. I joined for the community. Right now I only see people on race day when I take part for 1 hour, and since we're racing there's very little socialising. I was hoping to make friends and practice with people. It's a great way to learn, and in these days the social aspect is a big deal for me. I've made some friends, but of course there isn't always time for talking. With 30+ sign ups a week, it's sad to see the practice server empty most of the time.

Also the time of the races. Normally on Sundays I visit my mother and have dinner with her. On race day, between practice and race end is usually between 15:00 and 17:00 - which cuts into dinner and visiting time with my mother.

I hope you all can understand why I'm feeling the way I do. I'm afraid of alienating myself, because I was so enthusiatic when I signed up. I like the people here, and what I've learned so far.

Hey Frank, is it that bad? ;) I mean your only excuse should be you're a VIP. :p:whistling: Are you?

I only use my full real name in the internet to show responsibility for anything I do/say/write. I do nothing here, I couldn't stand for in real life. Wish it was the same for everyone but that's just my own opinion (...and there may be good reasons for anonymiti in the internet, thinking of communication in a dictatorship or so).

Btw, if you didn't stumble over it allready, here's a lovely thread, where a few of us expose a bit of their real lifes. You can get to know me in post #5.

I assumed you didn't have access unless you were an RD member, thus, you'd have had exposure to the RD forum. I agree a link to the forum post would be a nice addition as the conversations can be quite useful for setups, gear, and the like.

Also, hello again! Finally out from under the shadow that is finals. Hope to see you all on track again soon. :D

Thanks everyone for coming out this week! As should come as no surprise if you're in the MX5 events, this week we'll be out at the venerable Road Atlanta!

He has 33 incidents
Just a random note about simracing gp incidents counting. I just looked at my profile and remembered reading a post about it :p

I have 0,8 incidents per lap :roflmao:
And all are car collisions...
Guess I just like to hit you all. At least every second lap I feel the need to bump someone.. :roflmao:

Assetto corsa counts scratching as "car collision". You easily get 10 collisions in one paint scratching so this value basically says absolutely nothing in general.

(I know you got punted off, I left that part of your post out on purpose to not talk about incidents :))

Car -to-car contacts are counted twice, it seems. One for each AC instance reporting the collision to the server and usually both report that unless it was a rare lag-induced collision where only one AC registered it.
For example, I had two contacts at Kayalami, but the results say it was 4

The 'incidents per race' calculation seems to be based on an average of all one's races, including ACC and no shows. ACC, as far as I can tell, doesn't include incidents. So if you want to get your bad boy safety rating average down... ;) .

That's good info!

However I like to keep my bad boy crasher image. Like being a stone cold badass on the outside and a puppy cuddling softie on the inside :roflmao: :roflmao:

Yep, that's also true!

Also if you "rub" with someone, every little contact will be counted as one collision.
I remember when I tested sTracker for the AC servers that I had over 100 "incidents" due to a very awesome and fair fight with a bit of side-by-side rubbing through most corners...

It should've been an intense race given that @pattikins and I had the same pace, but he bogged down on start (1st gear too tall, I guess)...

You were spot on. My starts tend to be hit & miss. It's the one area that I've not improved and if it was a drag race I'd more often than not be @ the back of the field. Any advice would be much appreciated. This is my first two gears from the race:
