AC GT3 @ Monza - Sunday 7th February 2021

Assetto Corsa Racing Club event
@Chris Down please sign me up with the R8. (Negotiations with my wife have been succesfull)

Now I hope to get some practice laps in... :geek:
Yes that are tough negotiations with the misses. I say always that I want to do/watch something together but without smartphone or tablets or paper and without falling asleep in the middle of the activity. That works normally :p

Hey guys:

Someone mentioned an app that shows wing angles or something. Where can I find that? Also is there a way to zoom out the track map?

I think I found the wing app, but still not a zoom feature for track map.

For the whole track map you need this

Why has every track a few corners that needs praying to survive it?:
Zandvoort T9/10 Marlboro, Renault
Monza : Ascari
LeMans: T2, T5
Nurnburging: Chicane
Silverstone: T1, Copse
Spa: EauRouge
RedBullRing: T1, T4, T10
Nordschleife: a lot
BrandsHatch: all
Drag 200m (and longer versions) hasn't, but no fun racing there :D

I would like to join this race. This will be my first online race and im sooo exited! Im not sure what car i will use. Do i have to decide on a car before the race?

You have time until Chris is setting up the race server, which is like 30-45 minutes before the race. No more changes can be made afterwards. But its always nice to give him a little time before that. But if you decided on the same day what car you want its fine.

Thank you much!!

You're very welcome. Make sure that you're familiar with the rules and guidelines in the first post, especially the blue flag part and the golden rule. For beginners we advice the Z4. It's the easiest car to drive with the default setup. Have fun!

Yesterday evening I tried it for the second time after Zandvoort, to actually understand what's wrong with it and with me being a beginner. I admit I hadn't that much time to practice after 1h in the McLaren, but the very first thing that I noticed going from one to the other is how much more steering lock I have to apply to get the same turn radius. E.g. in the first chicane, I have to turn the wheel much more than the McLaren to get past T1/T2. I know practice is everything, but in half an hour I couldn't get closer times than 1,5 s to the McL.
I noticed there's a steering ratio setting in PC2 (though I'm not sure you can modify it on every car, and not sure about the 650S specifically), is there anything similar in AC? While I'm sure the problem is not all there, I'd feel much more comfortable if I could reduce the need of turning the wheel so much.

BTW, @Goblin616 I think it was you at the same time with me on the server, I spun quite some times and almost got in your way at least once exiting from the Ascari chicane while testing the Z4. The same went for @Aksu who certainly knows how to put pressure on you, I felt him breathing down my neck on the Lesmo 2 and completely missed the braking point later at the Parabolica :(

I'm obviously not able to see exactly what going on with your rig or AC, -so I always use 540 deg rotation
for gt3, this is personal to me, a lot use 900 deg, but I find that what you describe happens to me, which I don't like.
The settings are in the AC wheel set up, and probably on your wheel.
Make sure all your settings match race day, time of day, ambient temperature, road grip 100%.
If not this can dramatically alter your lap times, I always practice with the same setting, otherwise, it becomes very confusing.
hope this is of some help, I am having to guess the answer for you as I don't know what you do or don't know.:)

I use 10;00 am, road temp 26 deg which achieved by the ambient temperature of 20 deg c
weather clear, road grip 100%.

I remember having read somewhere that if you set the angle to the one the rig / wheel is actually capable of, you will get the wheel in game to move at the same angle as you are in RL. Actually, this is what happens, but at the moment it's not so important as I turned off the wheel and hands in-game.
What I really meant was that there's a big difference in the amount of steering lock you have to apply between the McL and the BMW everything else being the same. That's why I found kind of hard to adapt to the BMW after so many races (in both PC2 and AC) and practice with the McL.

As for the weather and track conditions, in this case I was always practicing on the server, so those remain unchanged.

I use 800deg. steering for everything. If you are using a g29 wheel its so small that your arms hit each other before 180 deg turn left or right. Make sure also you're not so close to the wheel that you elbows hit your ribs. I moved my pedal closer to the wheel just after christmas and it feels alot better. A bit of a timber spaced between the wall and pedals done the job.

This should give you the real life degrees for all gt3s though, since they are all below 800.
But you're compressing the ffb a little bit and are losing some "realism" with road cars.

The ffb compression is still strange for me but it's also happening on my fanatec csw.
Going from 900 to 450 = a lot more gain. Not 2x though.. More like 130%, very strange.

With Logitech wheels and using 100%, you'll get hardware clipping on top of the software clipping.
That's how I've found out about this effect.
When using my LUTs too, it becomes a problem as my curves won't be smooth anymore...

No worries mate. I'm pretty good at avoiding traffic I think; you didn't even get in the way! I think the reason you have to turn the wheel so much more in the Z4 is the coast differential lock setting. If you lower that you shouldn't have to turn the wheel as much. At least that's the first thing I would try as it's the simplest change to make and reverse. Other solutions will require more tweaking.
