GT Sport GT Sport | Lewis Hamilton, RUF and New Cars - It's Update Time

Polyphony Digital recently pushed live a new update for GT Sport - adding plenty of new content and a Lewis Hamilton branded new time attack challenge.

That's right, Lewis Hamilton has further cemented his relationship with the PS4 exclusive racing game as part of this new V1.50 update to GT Sport, with his Lewis Hamilton Time Trial Challenge - where players have the opportunity to pitch their skills against the newly minted six-time Formula One World Champion. Hamilton has set fast laptimes on ten of the tracks within GT Sport, with prizes awarded for those who manage to beat or get close to the Mercedes driver...

... however this new addition comes with a bit of a catch for GT Sport players. The Lewis Hamilton Time Trial Challenge has the dubious honour of being the very first paid DLC for the title. Retailing at £6.49, anyone who wants to step up and challenge the times set by Hamilton will have to dig into their wallets for the privilege - which will be interesting to see how this is taken by the community considering the long history of free content and feature updates for GT Sport so far during the development of the game.

For those looking to keep their cash firmly locked away in your wallet, build 1.50 did contain some nice new free additions - not least of which is the return of everyone's favourite Porsche alternative - welcome back RUF!

Yes, remember the days when Porsche kept their racing game licences locked firmly in the 'do not disturb' drawer and we had to drive around in a RUF and pretend? Well in a strange twist, I think many folks have missed the famous RUF brand now that Porsche are pretty much everywhere, and GT Sport have stepped up to bring the specialist manufacturer back into their sim - adding the CTR3 2007 into GT Sport as part of the latest new free content update.

Other cars added to the title as part of build 1.50 are the 2003 BMW M3 Coupe, the 2016 Toyota 86 GT ‘Limited’, a 2020 special edition Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo Coupe, and a nice RE Amemiya FD3S RX-7... not bad for nowt is it?

Further enhancements as part of the latest build include Spa themed 'Circuit Experience' and seven new GT League events to enjoy.

GT Sport is available exclusively on Sony PlayStation 4.

The game that keeps giving, have followed the updates this title has brought but just seems too late to buy into PS4 now and its much inferior VR but who knows how far off the next installment is for PS5

Just how good looking is this title with an HDR OLED telly?

On Oled HDR it is looking amazing, i has 3x27” and other sims, iR, acc and so on but this graphically looks best and replays are awesome, ffb and physics not the best even with v2.5 fanatec, but it is fun.

I kinda wish someone with a nice DD wheel (non Fanatec) would cover in a thread how we can use these wheels on GT Sport and how well it works.

For casual playing, this looks quite fun to me and maybe more appealing than considering the other route and paying for i-racing which doesnt seem as good for casual players, maybe I am wrong though....

What i heard from a friend who has a simcube and was crazy enough to try it with GTS...
”- you’ll need a special adapter so that the PS4 detects the simcube
- have the PC on at the same time (to mess around simcube software) while GTS is on PS4
- Simply give up after messing around and admit this was waste of time and money and then fire up RF2 to forget what happened”

I hardly play this, its just eye candy
physics are awful
disagree, Grid2 could be considered awful for most cars

lot of cars in GTS are good, as long as you don't mess with tires

Putting road cars on racing tires ruins them, but keeping them on comfort tires feels actually pretty good
I haven't obviously go as far as comparing real life lap times , so maybe it's not entirely realistic in that sense, but to me cars feel good, better then in Forza/NeedForSpeed/Grid etc.

it's not AC level, but it's not that far off
