You know, I'm not running 2:03's every lap, its more like consistant 2:05's. That fast lap was merely a fluke. But I'll be practicing tonight 6-8pm EST if anyone wants to join in. I need to get in as many laps as possible. Its amazing how one corner can really effect your time by seconds, not just tenths.

Well, the Supercar V8 lap record is 2:07.48 set in 2014, so the game is a little off. But the circuit has an amazing history and is actually a public road. It gets little attention, but I'd rank it in my top five.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Panorama_Circuit
"The Mount Panorama circuit is known as one of the most fearsome circuits in the World. It also has the fastest corner in touring car racing, in turn 20 (the Chase). French sportscar driver Alexandre Premat, who later raced as a V8 Supercar regular, once described the circuit as 'A mix of the (Nürburgring) Nordschleife, Petit Le Mans and Laguna Seca'. German Maro Engel also described the circuit as the "Blue Hell", as a play on the Nurburgring's nickname 'Green Hell'."

I think I'm going to try and build something like this over the weekend. Got my wood yesterday.

I've been driving with a DIY PVC rig for the last 3 years. Its time to upgrade, lol.

Very cool, no doubt. But get the xbox one/Thustmaster before that if it's about the same price. You will not regret it.

Wow!! Had my first proper go around this circuit this morning. 20 minute practice session, 2 laps qualifying and a race. Fantastic track, so much fun and love that middle section. Although initially it seems like a beast it’s actually not as hard as I expected. Fairly easy to learn as it’s really only that middle section that can catch you out and as long as you don’t lose focus and forget what part you are on it’s not that bad. Kept it clean for the whole of the practice, quali and race which will be the key for everyone tomorrow too. No good being quick if you put it in the wall ;)

Only managed a 15th spot on the grid and took it easy at the start but picked my way through the AI as one of them spun on the exit of turn 1 and quickly found myself in second place. Stayed that way for the rest of the race, closing down on the leader through the twisty section but not quite having the speed to make a passing move down the straights. AI behind were constantly on my rear but were very well behaved and I only had one or two little nudges from behind as they closed in. Last lap the leader got out of shape on the exit of turn 1 allowing me to close right in and on the approach to turn 2 at the end of the long straight I just managed to squeeze past on the inside before making the turn. Kept it clean for the twisty part (keeping it in higher gears was a big help here) and then made sure to get a good exit onto that long straight to keep the chasing pack away from my rear. Nice and clean around that wonderful fast right-hander and braking early for the following left to make sure I didn’t bin it into the gravel there and then it was home and dry up to the last turn and the run to the flag. Just 3 seconds between the top 14 cars!!

Really enjoyed the race against these AI here although if I hadn’t got past them early maybe it would not have been so clean lol.

I plan on getting an Xbox One, just have to save up to replace my Fanatec wheel I have now. The wheel mount will hopefully last a long time as im taking that design roughly and putting casters on it for stowage to keep the wife happy. I'm looking forward to playing Forza 5 and Project Cars with you Robert

Can't we postpone till 10pm or even 10.30pm for Peter?

Come on.....It's the last race and he's got a shot at the championship.

Oh I'd be happy to wait a long as Peter wants. It won't be that late over here and Chris, you are a night owl of sorts, and Railer will have no excuse unless he's got a REAL good one. Quite frankly, Railer, Peter and Chris should all be in this one and to hell with the rest of us (well, you know what I mean).

I was just under the impression that Peter could not make it regardless of the time. If that's not the case Peter, please let me know via PM and we will definitely postpone. Even if there is a better chance you can make it if it's later, that's reason enough to postpone. Even if there is a chance you can only make ONE race that is reason enough to, since this is a double points race.

If we just simply waited in the lobby from 10pm GMT on for Peter to get home, that would be the best thing in my view, unless you all have something better to do. :whistling:

Get this: F1 is so popular over here that my local NBC affiliate (qualy is actually on one of the major networks) is NOT showing and instead pre-empting it for a college football game. And two teams that suck ass at that. Bunch of homers. No wonder gay marriage is still illegal here.

Peter, that was a great write up. You have to be in this one, since you will be the ying to the lap speed others' yang. Your enthusiastic penmanship has me exited now. Before I, like you, loved the track, but knew I'd be out of it and was going to wait to put all my efforts into a Forza5 (laser scanned) event here, but honestly this game sounds like a better romp with the A.I. being much better than any game I've seen, next gen or old gen.

As I understand it College Football is just about as popular as the NFL over there. Just stream it from somewhere. PM me if you need a few links ;)

As I am looking forward to playing with everyone here! It would be great if I could just magically make that happen.

I have a buddy (first racing buddy) who recently got back into virtual racing through a next gen deal, and built much the same rig as you describe. The thrustmaster has such powerful motors, it literally vibrates the 1" desk I have it mounted to and will literally rip my hands out of it if I drove like the pCARS animation does (where'd they get the idea that's how racers drive?). Upon calibration it will decapitate small dogs. So your rig will serve you well when you switch.

How old is your Fanatec? I have one too, but I'll refrain from speaking about it because I would rant. Nothing but bad experiences. It still works, but a motor is blown. I think Microsoft did us all a favor (and cut out Fanatec for a reason) by not allowing their equipment to be compatible with the One. Of course, I can understand those who have a working one being angry.

Unfortunately, it is. Ironically, the sports that are better quality at the college level (baseball and hockey) are not. In my state, college basketball is a religion. With Duke, Wake Forest, University of North Carolina, and NC State all being withing shouting distance.

I don't know how old it is, I bought it used on eBay. But its in good shape and I haven't had too many issues with it. my next wheel will have to have force feedback, as I love the feel of the Fanatec.it was a major step up from the Microsoft wheel

You map your throttle, brake and clutch to different joystick functions, it adds virtual joystick to your devices and than in game you map throtle, brake and clutch normaly by pressing pedals (games detects inputs from that virtual joystick) ... found it on some DIY pedals tutorial and it works perfectly fine without any delay .. havent find any other solution (not even editing config files)
