Said is back
Jordan driver Omer Said has taken the win at the prestigious Monaco GP, his first one since the 1993 Australian GP. Key to this win was the start, where he could get past Kederer. The German was the first driver to retire in lap 16 with a blown engine. He shouldn't remain the only one, as 5 more drivers didn't make it to the end, with 4 of them having started in the top 10. In lap 22 Keranen had to stop his McLaren with a broken suspension. In lap 52 Lintner crash out, one lap later Foro. In lap 58 Néron too crashed, and 2 laps later Diehl's gearbox failed. McNamara also didn't make it to the end, but he was still classified.
Utzer was one of the profiting drivers, after the second round of stops he was in 2nd. Said had a hard time defending against him, but could stay ahead in the end. Hunsley in 3rd also wasn't that far off, but with Monaco being Monaco there just was no chance for passing. Buurlage could pass Saidy during the last stops, and Engberink took the final point. Except for the start and during the pitstops there wasn't a single overtake during the whole race.
