No surprises at the front
Unchanged picture in the qualifying session for the European GP. Ben Utzer took a 6th pole, clearly ahead of Engberink in 2nd. Kederer in 3rd only a thousandth behind, followed by both Jordans. Especially Said will be looking to convert this in a decent result. Both Prost in the top 10 again. Buurlage in 11th might have another chance for points with his strong race pace. His teammate Black beaten in 16th, just ahead of Jimmy Laad. McLaren again with a rather poor qualifying, they'll face a tough race.
The predictions for the race are similar as for the quali, dry the first half hour, after that heavy showers.

"So Andy, your teammate has qualified ahead of you over 10 times since the first race of the season, and you're P16 for tomorrow's race. Is it anything that you should impress on?"
There's no single doubt why Buurlage outqualifies ahead of me every time and if I can qualify ahead of him. I just have an okay-looking car even if the livery is my favourite at all. Next year I will have a new teammate...............nothing more.

"Thanks Andy. See you tomorrow!"
Thanks.

So this is my favourite track, I'll see if I can get a good or a "no problem" result.

should be asking for which ones aren't his favourite
Shanghai (sort of) - First turn hard to tackle in rFactor
Abu Dhabi - hard to opinionate
Austin (not the track itself) - in rFactor also hard to tackle Turn 3-9 IMO
Sugo (sort of) - Circuit a bit too small for an F1 venue IMO
Yeongam - hard to opinionate
...more to come...

Utzer's lead shrinks
Championship leader Ben Utzer suffered another major setback in his title campaign, with a fourth retirement in the last 5 races. In those he could only score a mere 6 points, while teammate and main contender Rami Saidy scored 34. With a third place today behind race winner Kederer and Engberink the gap is now down to 6 points.
At the start of the race Utzer kept his lead, while Kederer jumped Engberink. Those two had an intense fight for second the next few laps, joined by Hunsley and Said. Utzer used this to pull out a gap of over 10 seconds. Kederer managed to hold on to 2nd, while Engberink was busy keeping Hunsley behind. The Brit with a rare mistake then, spinning off the track and rejoining in last. Around that point light rain started to fall. However the drivers could all stay on slicks for the moment. That changed when the two stoppers made their first stop, opting for Intermediates. Their advantage wasn't as big as they had hoped though.
Engberink then had the lead, Utzer in 2nd ahead of his teammate. Kederer followed in 4th, then Laad and Poirier. Conditions then got much worse. While the one stoppers just preponed their stops, the two stoppers had to pit again, changing for wets. Utzer regained his lead, followed by Engberink, Kederer and Saidy. Poirier was in 5th and Néron in 6th. In lap 37 then the end for Utzer's race. He was leading with 15s, when a water leak stopped his car. Engberink inherited the lead, but a small off in tricky conditions allowed Kederer to slip past. Further back Said meanwhile had climbed back up to 7th. Kederer was flying now, going over 1 second faster than Engberink behind him. Around lap 50 the drivers originally scheduled for 2 stops came in for their final 3rd stop.
This handed the lead back to Engberink, Saidy 5 seconds behind in 2nd. Kederer dropped to 3rd, with a gap of over 15 seconds. Laad with 1 stop in 4th, ahead of Keranen and Poirier. Those who stopped however now had quite an advantage with the fresher tyres. Poirier and Buurlage could both get past Laad and Keranen. At the front Kederer's times were almost 3 seconds faster as those by Engberink and Saidy. In lap 59 he got past Saidy, 3 laps later he took the lead from Engberink, pulling out a gap of 16 seconds in the following 5 laps. A bit further back Said was doing similar, climbing from 10th to 6th in the final couple of laps.

FIA Press Conference
@Omer Said: Stunning pace in the final laps, happy it was rewarded with a point?
@Jack Hunsley: Did your early mistake cost you a podium today?
@Benutzername: Just how angry are you about all the recent technical problems?
