AMS2 Ginetta G58 @ Virginia International Raceway, Thursday 23rd March

Automobilista 2 Racing Club event
I'd like to register for this if I'm not too late and you've no objection to someone who hasn't raced either this car or track before, I've just done a good 30 laps though and it's a fun combination.
That's about 27 laps more than me :)

We are a casual bunch and there is a fairly wide range of skill across the regulars. Tonight is a little light on numbers, but it's a good opportunity to get to grips with the foibles of AMS2 and how we do things, so you are very welcome.

We do ask that you use your real name in the forum. You don't need to change your tag, just add it to your profile and it's only visible to other premium members. You should see it if you follow this link: https://www.racedepartment.com/account/account-details

Please try and take the time to read the rules that are linked on the first post. The most important one though is the golden rule, which is that if you have hit someone and they have gone off or spun, you must find somewhere safe to wait for them to regain the place back.

See you in a bit!

Rules read and real name updated, cheers

I haven't tried the 'default' and 'default+' for a while in AMS2, so things might have changed, but I struggled to find anything I liked that worked consistently amongst vehicles I used regularly with either of those. I ended up going for a default 'custom' FFB file. This doesn't provide certain FX through the wheel, like front lockup etc.... but this actually worked really well for me as I have the missing effects though various tactile, like pucks on my pedals. I have been happy with it for a while now.
Which FFB did you use? I’ve been hearing good things about danielkart custom ffb as it gets updated often too, so looking to try that.

I found the default plus works mostly but for some vehicles it feels a bit weird.

I did dabble with the danielkart and a few other custom files. I found they typically worked well on certain cars, but not others.

I actually now run a 'vanilla' custom FFB. Just remove the custom FFB file, start the game and it will create it. I find it's a got a 'cleaner' feel, but if you cannot get the other effects via additional tactile, then you will be missing some cues.

Might test it as I have bass shakers.

just tried danielkarts file and just like the last time I tried it in earlier version a while back, I feel like my centre of gravity has shifted to the rear and all the feeling is as if I’m in the rear which feels strange and not my preference. Not sure if realistic but it breaks my immersion. But can see why people like that.

Find myself under steering too, maybe not used to it. Kerbs are too light and lacks the directness of the default plus.

Also, when 1.4 released he said on Reiza forums that the Fanatec tuning for “Ingame damper effect“ does nothing, as ams2 doesn’t use the damper channel (which is supposedly true) .
Yet turning that setting to 100 vs 0 there was a clear significant difference and heaviness increase confirmed by me and several others who tried it. I reconfirmed it just now too In game, night and day difference . Yet he insisted there was no difference in the telemetry rather than trying it out!
So I thought twice about using the file.. :)

Thanks for the races chaps. I'm so glad I kept this one as two sprints.... 60 minutes with this combo would have fried me out! :)

I'm going to pick a less demanding track next week for the final outing in the G58

Just a reminder that the Mini is on tonight at Snetterton: https://www.racedepartment.com/threads/mini-challenge-snetterton-friday-24-march-2023.256602/

Then Tuesday it's the F Inter also at Snetterton: https://www.racedepartment.com/threads/formula-inter-snetterton-tuesday-28th-march-2023.256810/

@Reefabus (and anyone else who was listening to me ramble on about RC car racing) this was the Tamiya model I raced that I could not remember the name of:

My aunts brother had one when I was a kid. Used to fight over who was gonna ride in these bad boys. Oh 1980's safety, how did I ever survive?
