rF2 Formula RC @ Monte Carlo 1966 - Fri 4th April

rFactor 2 Racing Club event
Looks hilarious.
I kept imagining one of the spectators spilling their coffee and me aquaplaning or maybe getting airborne over a discarded cigarette butt.
Ill do my best to make it.
Thanks

Hey guys this is hilarious fun.
Now please keep a straight face as I elaborate.....

I did some setup work ( :psuppresses giggle)
Started with gearing...(really trying hard not to laugh now, BTW no disrespect to real RC car owners).
Also looked at camber and spring/shock settings.
You can really chuck this little baby around:laugh:.
Taking it flat through casino took real nerve at first:roflmao:

But I started to really trust the car:ninja:

OK if you haven't cracked up yet.....
I havent done any low fuel quali simulations yet, only full fuel runs with all 1.7 litres on board.
Be there, you will giggle.

Oh mustn't forget. It seemed to take ages for the AI to rubber the track in!

Clios and RCs might be a perfect multi-class race. The RCs will just fit between the wheels and under the clios, right? No one will need to pull over to let others pass. :)

I did the same David, what conclusion did you come to on gearing? As I'm running it as high as possible, just because you spend so long flat out, even through corners. (I thought Monaco was built for RC cars with its size... :p)

We've all got tales of misery at Monaco. And in my mind, to be taking so many corners flat out so easily is a poetic justice, as for once, we don't have to give this street circuit any respect whatsoever. So I fully intend to take this opportunity to steer with my knees and stick fingers up at those hay bales on the waterfront that robbed me a race win here almost a year ago!

I did some work on the gearing as well and felt the best way is pretty low rear wing and the gearing in the middle. So just the way you don't run into the limiter. If the gearing is too long you struggle sometimes on corner exits and you don't go as quick up the hill. Also I raised ride height a bit and made the car a bit softer, which reduced the bottoming over the bumps :)

Well so far I maxed the long gearing and still hit limiter a bit.
Fred might be right though not sure.
I was planning on adding some wing as if I'm on the limiter anyway I don't need a more slippery car.

You could also make the diff ratio longer i think. with a good slipstream i can get to 148km/h (92mph).

It's going to be an interesting race. The setup and strategy game is already started.

I'm going to include the RC's with the Panoz on the server. If there are no sign ups with the Panoz, we have a RC track day. To share and compare setups. I'm on the server tonight anyway.

Strange I rarely got more than 20.000 rpm and the limiter is at 21.000 if i am not mistaken.
I think I saw 20,800 fairly often.

Ill try to get there. Its just hilarious we are here discussing setup on these cars. I love it.
Don't ask me to share my shock absorber settings though!
I think I got 140 kph. I just did gearing, didnt notice diff ratio.

If you are driving an RC, at what point have you achieved "significant overlap" when attempting to pass a full sized car?:roflmao:
I mean if I look up and can see his A-Pillar he will grant me racing room no?
And how much racing room must he grant me? If I my car is 6" wide is that all I get?
